Brake light on in the morning?

First of all, I have the 5AT and my parking brake is NOT on.

I've been noticing recently that my brake light has been on in my TL-S when I start my car in the morning. Its been around 60 degrees in the mornings and I've noticed that when I drive it later in the day when its warmer, the light never comes on. I read the owners manual and it said if there is a problem with the brakes, the ABS and VSA light will come on as well, and they don't.

During this time the pedal has been stiffer than usual, but occasionally the pedal travel will go back to normal for awhile. I know my pads are worn and my rotors are warped, but the brakes still work fine. My brake fluid is also full.

Any ideas? Bad fluid maybe?

If fluid level is good, you should check these two: brake pads, or reservoir float.

Check your brake fluid level. That light going on is usually because the level is low or your float (the part attached to the brake cap) gets stuck. Make sure the float can move freely.

Like I said, I checked my fluid level and its fine. I'll have to see if the float is stuck though, thanks.

But, that doesn't explain the sudden stiffening of my brake pedal. Could burned/dirty fluid cause this? I don't brake aggressively so I doubt its burned.

Are you sure its not just in your head its stiffer? By stiffer how much stiffer? Fluid wont cause it. ABout the only thing that will would be a bad booster.

It's certainly stiffer then it used to be. It's not incredibly stiff, but the pedal travel is definitely shorter. I know for sure because I've felt the pedal stiff and the way it used to be in the same day.

Anyway, I just checked the float and it moves freely. Fluid level is good. I wonder if it is a brake booster problem then.

Mine does this too. Again, when it's cold just like the Op, it's on, but I don't notice the pedal any stiffer. For some reason I feel it is Ebrake related...

our Park brake (ebrake) is nothing more than a set of mini drum brakes housed inside the rear rotor hub--the wide part of rotor hub/center,,thats their drum!

use a vac guage and ck diff in different ambient temps, and what happens when brakes are applied --and when held like a long stop pointed downhill~

if your brake fluid is more than 2-3 years old- flush it out with new DOT4 fluid
synthetic or plain doesnt matter for regular driving
