Blue Trans Bolt Heads, but what is case design?
Got a quick question (and yes, I searched) about the Acura rebuilt transmissions. I understand that if your bolt heads are blue, you've had an Acura rebuild, but how do you know if you have the '05+ case? Is there a way to differentiate the older with the '05 redesign? BTW, have an '03 TL-S purchased in '07, transmission has the blue bolts, so I have no idea which case I'm running.

I've read it in a few spots; I think it's in the tranny failure thread somewhere. 01tl4tl has stated it. Here's a thread, post #2: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/does-2003-tl-have-tranny-issues-767189/

its true- acura warranty rebuilts have blue painted bolt heads'
look at end of trans from underneath- the main bolts that go thru trans-blue
the new case design in 05 can be determined by looking at the top of the trans at filler hole
If you have a large bolt marked ATF on it- thats the new case
If you have an external oil jet kit in that hole instead, you have a pre 05 change trans
or call acura 1-800-382-2238 x5 register as owner, need car vin- they can tell you when trans was done

everyone should register with the 800- thats `acura care`- it sends out recall notices to last known owner address,,that wont be you unless you tell them
can also ck for any open recalls and explain any extended warranty like srs
