Thumbs down black box/ crash data recorder

Guys, I did a search to see if there was anything on black boxes in our cars. I couldn't see anything written on these crash data recordering devices. Many GM and Ford vehicles have had them for years.....big brother stuff to me. It can record events before a crash such as speed, brakes and air bag deployement as well as throttle position. I wanted to see if Acura TL's had such a gizmo. Thanks in advance if you have info. QuickRick p.s. soon all cars will have them thanks to lawyers and government.

Answer is no. GM is the only one who's doing that, for R&D purposes of studying SRS deployments under different conditions... or so they say.

My understanding is that this is only on GM vehicles, some Fords,
and Corvettes since 1997.

I asked around and cannot find anyone that knows of Honda/Acura doing this.

Has anyone seen the results of the voice recording some of these black boxes pick up? They discovered that in 49 of the states you will typically hear screams of horror and pain and then metal crushing - but in Texas you most often hear "Hey hold on to my beer and watch this!"
