2g`s look like a four door NSX.

3g`s look like a civic on steroids.

Porshe Panamera got it`s inspiration from the 2g....And having a Porshe as a big brother isn`t that bad. 3rd geners we would of looked up to you but you know>>>I still like the 3rd gens though, just because there a TL.

3g fronts look like older Camaro front ends. And has a flat rear like Corvettes.
That's pretty sporty to me.

The Panamera is Euro styling at it`s best......

It makes the 750il and A8 look like little children.

I`d still take a 4th gen TL over the above mentioned because of it`s sporty looks and will take it in black and the trunk will fit my golf clubs in perfectly....

okay, I understand ya'lls definition of classy now.
I agree, the 3G is Sporty, yet still classy.

and Nick, I dont think the panamera's competition is either the 750 or the A8.
the panamera is the answer to the A7 and the coupe lookin' sedan merc...

*edit
the CLS

Definition of class
4th gen Tl

Sporty looks
3rd gen Tl (Sister in law has an 07 wow at the power)

Ride (just can`t be beat)
2nd gen Tl

note: Porshe and Audi should never get compared. 2 different cars.

LOL
you're speaking of the panamera, a swooping roofline sedan just like the CLS and A7.

Of all the current generations, despite me owning a 2G, I think the late 3G TL-S is the best looking of all.

You also forgot about the VW cc. Same back ends. The panamera still has the best ride just like the 2nd gen TL. The CL is more rounded.

lol
how old are you?
have you ever driven a CLS? or an A7?
or even a Panamera?

sadly, the VW cc is not in the same league as those cars, despite the swooping roofline.

VW CC? That's like saying the Golf R32 is in the same League as the NSX....

Could the new Acura TlX be the best of the TL generation?

R.I.P. Tl`s. You had a good run. I will be checking out the TLX, the TL`s direct replacement.

I love everything about those cars except the stock wheels, call me crazy, but I just don't like them and don't think they do anything for the car.

The regular 3G TL wheels look better

04-06 base + 07-08 type S wheels are the hottest, and sell so easy!!! I sold my base wheels on craigslist in under a week.

Reviving this thread... So, started looking at TLs for whatever reason and stumbled on the one that I always wanted:

2007 NBP Acura TL Type-S 6MT with 88K for $17K

BUT, also found a

2010 SS Acura TL SH-AWD w/ Technology Package 6MT with 67K for $23K

My gut says get the 3G, but its been through 3 owners and 1 accident already based on CARFAX while the 4G had only one, clean CARFAX.

Just wondering what you guys would do. I plan on at least test driving, but may pass and keep fixing/maintaining the 2G.

^the 6MT SHAWD will have the better driving dynamics out of the two.
for example, my '06 6MT has major torque steer. if not careful, a curve can prove to be dangerous if you gas it.
you'll go straight into a wall because of torque steer and the car's natural state of understeer.
with the SHAWD torque vectoring, you will never have this problem, and I assume it will be easier to drive.

ON the other hand, more fingers. (hahahhahaha)
but really, the 4G TL looks gross and with a little aesthetic mods it can look great.

the 3G TL already looks great stock.

Ultimately its your choice..
you'll need to decide how long you're going to keep the car, if you want to re-sell it later, what kind of modding you're going to be doing, what kind of driving you'll be doing, how much money you want to be spending in gas, insurance cost, etc.

Question-on the 3Gs....is it almost mandatory that you do at least a mild suspension drop on them like the 2Gs, or are they pretty good to go like they are??
(unless, of course you're just looking for a big dropped look)

All great points! I definitely agree the 3G looks better and to find this one, I was shocked. I contacted the dealer to confirm if its even still available because they are hard to find.

4G has grown on me. Plus, I have to consider the Mrs opinion and she likes that its newer and doesn't mind the 4G style at all.

I personally don't think it requires a drop, but that's me.

There's an 03 abp tl-s with 20 inch rims cruising around town this summer. Caught up with him a gas station and chatted him up a little. Comptech everything! Body kit. It is a thing of beauty.

A real eye catcher.......!

the question about the drop on the 3G's...

i personally like performance over looks and my modding takes that direction.
the 3G's suspension, while great, needs a little bit stiffer damping, a thicker RSB, and a slight drop to be perfect!

What about the suspension on 3G 04-06 6MT (before the 3G Type S)

When I had my 03 tls, I thought it was better looking than the 3rd gen. cars. Now that I've sold it, I can admit it was jealousy; the 3rd gen. cars are more attractive. I think the 4th gen. is hideous, although the aftermarket grilles make it somewhat acceptable. My 03 was the first car I've owned that just had to be lowered. That was the first thing I did. It just looked wrong at factory height.

The 3rd gens dont need to be lowered as bad as the second gens. I was thinking of rebadging my car with a chevy silverado badge.

Yeah, ha...hah !
Gotta admit the 3rd Gen's later models had their shit together.

But sadly, something went wrong with the 4th Gen....as they sorta got lost.

We can only hope that blending the old TSX and TL will result in a true winner !!! "TLX" to the rescue.

With the current vision odds are its already a lost cause. Look how badly they have screwed up their chance to get the RLx correct with an epic fail.

I really have to agree here.

Hopefully by the time I graduate from university and will actually be able to afford something new, the 1st gen TLX will be due for a remodel.

I would love to see this in the USA, but after doing some quick googling I couldn't find anything about it coming to America. I know Civic Type-Rs have sold in the UK since the late 90s...

Hell, if I could afford an Integra Type-R I'd buy one in a heart beat.

A TLX Type-S Turbo.... that's something to think about.

More than likely the new TLX will offer a juiced up SH-AWD "hybrid" .....as this seems to be the trend in upscale cars. The econo compact hybrids are not worth the extra money to the prospective buyers. So, in order to be compliant with government mandated "green" technology in future automobiles, the manufacturer's are aiming towards folks with deeper pockets and desiring a unique eco-model to park in their driveway.

Yeah, I'm a hopeless gasoline junky, but electric probably is the way of the future. And my understanding is that electric motors make full torque almost instantly-not such a bad thing.

As far as TL sales, I keep reading about how sales have fallen off, especially since the 4Gs, but around here I see a butt-load of them. I see a goodly number of 2Gs, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting somebodys 3G, and I have 3 different black 4Gs that drive past my house every afternoon after work. All with women driving them..hummm
