The best mobile Gps system
Save your money and get something better.
You'll get pissed off at the <200$ one and then throw it out/sell it at a loss and end up buying the more expensive one.
I payed 800$ for my Garmin iQue 3600 back in 2000, and it still works flawlessly.
you get what you pay for.

I like the Mio brand ones. I have an older one that works just great, and have used the newer ones and they are great also. Its a euro company, the interface is a little different the say a tom tom, but the performance is great. finds satellites super fast, fast recalcs, fast route calc, etc. they use one of the best chipsets out there. once you get used to the interface, i personally wouldn't spend my money on another brand. check them out in a store.
I have Magellan, paid $220 with 2 year Officemax warranty. Mounted right below the visor, screen touch the edge of the roof liner. Why kept it there? No more sun glare, less heat making contact, and not that much visible from front window ( theft wise ). Ran a extended power socket wire from the A pillar, to cig lighter switch in arm rest console. Good luck!

My Sprint Mogul with TomTom! With the right modifications, my GPS picks up a signal in less then 10 seconds. The phone might be 300 dollars, but the plan is unbeatable. Sprint Sero with 500 anytime minutes, unlimited texting, N&W at 7PM, and on top of that, unlimited internet usage, and at the same time, you can tether and have wireless internet on the go for free at 3g speeds! Sounds like an advertisement, but you seriously cant beat all the features packed into this little sucker.
The phone is only 200 now. haha!

Nice! I think the only thing i dont like about the touch is the missing keyboard, but that extra ram really does damage.
In my experience, the lower end ones seem to always be off by a little bit. My phone proved to be more exact then the Magellan 4000 series gps that my house mate owns. The Jensen one that we bought for my girlfriend last Christmas for 195 wasn't even as bad as the 4000 series.

we have garmin, magellan, and tomtoms in my family. In terms of of user friendliness and fast route calculations, i'd go with the garmin. although the magellan and tomom aren't too bad, i find them hard to navigate and a little slow on the route calculations.
I like TomToms since I can do some modify to it, but any aftermarket gps will do its job and have some bad things. Go here: http://www.gpsreview.net/ read some reviews of gps you like, then go to its forum page and read some of the issues people complain.
I like the Garmin 250W I got for the wife to get around in. Also let the sis-in-law take it up to Montreal ... worked well there, too. Not sure what the price of that is in the US, but should be around $200.
I like a widescreen compared to the standard 4:3 layout since you can see more of the things outside of the main route ... even longer spelled street names appear. Just a small 'advantage', IMHO.
Hope that helps.
