Mine is very audible but my mom's has become very quiet over the past few years. I have noticed that it's louder from the passenger side. This is another thing she may have noticed but not really bothered to mention.

Put a new battery in the remote first- radio shack does it for you!
The first click arms the system- it should activate in 15 seconds on its own
BUT to be certain it is ON and you didnt miss the lock button
Wait a few seconds and a 2nd click with beep activates and confirms alarm on right away
Doing it a few times beepbeepbeep makes ~interested parties~ aware your alarm is ON!!!

The car is locked and armed the first time you hit the lock button on the remote. If you look you will see the parking lights flash. A second push of the lock button will give the beep. It is a pacifier to confirm what you already know if you know what to look for. In my case, the closer I am to the car it seems the softer the beep unless I am directly beside or behind it. It is louder about 15 feet away than it is at 5 feet away. Go figger. I much prefer the beep to the annoying honk that most other cars utilize. People like to play with the locking button on those cars just to let the rest of us that they have a "cool" car I guess. I had a jerk for a neighbour (Canadian spelling ... I know, no comments please) about 10 years ago who took great delight in honk, honk, honking at least 3 times when he came home no matter what time day or night. We all slept easier knowing his piece of crap was safe. JC

The battery in the remote is new. It wouldn't have any effect on how loud the beep is anyway. The beep is BARELY audible, it definitely wasn't like this before.

Ok then move on to the speaker for the alarm and see what condition it is in
Let a professional fix it for you at the car stereo/alarm place

just unplug the wires from the horn and hot wire to the battery it to see if it's working properly = BEEPING ok. Bet it's just going bad. I had one fail and do the (SOFT SOUND) thing on my Accord. Then if it REALLY bothers you so much that you have to have the LOUD beep noise, take the horn to a junk yard and have them sell you one off of another Honda/Acura product. Go home wire and reattach it.

I agree, I like the soft beep. Normally I would disable the loud honk with that other alarm makes anyways. Especially when it's after 1 am and i don't want to disturb others.
