Battery Problem (I need to vent)

I drove home from work on Friday and parked my TL-S on drive way.
Saturday & Sunday I drove my CR-V around with my wife and baby.
Sunday evening I gave a nice wash to my TL-S. Turned on the ignition and.....click click click....nothing happens. Interior dome light, door lights, headlights (not very bright) did come on. So I was not sure if it was battery or not. I tried to open the truck w/ remote and did not work. hmmm....... So I jump the car and it started right on.
I drove it around and came back home and it strated just fine.

This morning it did not start again. So I jumped it get it going. so I dropped it off at dealer. Fortunately, dealer gave me a new battery

My car has 38500 miles and it is 02 model. How can the battery go dead so soon? I never had to get a new battery so soon.

For example my 03 Civic got a new battery around 70k miles. And my many other cars had this problem.

Anyone with battery problems?

Battery life varies by climate and use. The hotter the climate the lower the battery lifetime. In Arizona, batteries last an average of 2 years. In Michigan, they average about 6 years.
Since you're from Georgia, about 3-4 years isn't too unusual for a battery life (especially the OE battery). Be glad you got a new one for free!

Nowadays, the climate control system places a heavy drain on car batteries. Unlike the older push-on-push-off type AC system which you can manually switch off the AC compressor, the AC is always switched on whenever the climate control system in on and the car is running. The air temperature is adjusted by mixing AC cold air and engine-coolant hot air in different proportions.

The newer cars also included more and more electronic aids that also drain the car batteries. So if you want your battery to last a long time, turn off the climate control, the GPS, and the high power Boss stereo.

I've had my bat. for 2yrs. 10mo. and I'm lucky that it has lasted this long for being in AZ. I know that I have to replace it soon b/c I had it tested the other day. I don't want to wait for it to quit on me especially since its 110F here every day.
