Ballast issue??
Hey all.
My passenger side D2R is out!!! All of a sudden it went out. I bought a set of used stock bulbs and installed them with no luck. So now I figure it is the Ballast.
What can I do to check? I dont have an ohm meter, or whatever it is called!!
If it is the ballast, where is the cheapest place to buy a new one???
Thanks for all the help!

this is what the ballast looks like.. to be honest the only place your gonna find it for cheap is e-bay.. unfortunately i dont see any single ballasts for sale on ebay so your best bet is to look on acuraoemparts.com or somthing

No warenty left!!
But I will take it in to have them "check" out the issue next week. Good idea.
Check out www.hidplanet.com/forums in the buy/sell forum for parts.
swap ballast out see if its really the ballast (item 7), if light still does not work, then check the ignitor (item 10). I noticed that some ballast do not contain the rubber grommet to seal the plug for the ignitor ... resulting in moister to collect in the ballast. I had to bake my ballast for 10 minutes at 250 degress and let it cool. It then started to work. I then sealed the plug with silicone. Good luck.
by swapping, i mean left <=> right of your car. I assume one of your lights are working?

Hi, Guys,
Need some advice. Took my car to Acura a few weeks ago because my passenger side headlight was flickering. They told me I needed a new headlight, inverter and ignitor unit. Total including labor was $890! I told them it was IMPOSSIBLE for all three to be bad (b/c I'm a girl, they thought they could dick me around...) I called my brother and he got into a screaming match with them. So, took my car to a local mechanic that specializes in Acura and Honda. So he orders all three parts and planned to replace only what was bad. Today he called me and told me he replaced all three individually and the light still flickered. Then he replaced all three with the new parts and the light still flickered. Now he's thinking it's a ground wire problem. He's not familar with the electrical system and has got the manual on order so he can look at the schematic and go from there. I hope this is it - the answer to this annoying problem.
Is it possible to indeed be a ground wire problem? Is this something that has happened to any of you? What could cause this problem in the first place.
Thanks for any advice. Please email if possible as I don't get to check these boards as often as I'd like: anomie612@gmail.com

Just replaced the ballast and headlight assembly on the driver's side on my 02 TL-S. I had a major moisture problem in the headlight which I believe caused the ballast to short out. You have to remove the entire front bumper to get to the screws on the bottom of the headlight assembly. Damn Acura for not sealing the ballast unit !! The unit is wide open to moisture underneath the headlight. I purchased a new ballast and the new revision of the ballast has a rubber grommet sealing the ballast on top where it plugs into the harness!
While I had the front bumper off, I replaced everything I could that is unreachable with the bumper on such as the side indicator lights and running lights as they were originals and I did not want to have to replace them later. Also, I sealed the working ballast with silicone since the new revision is sealed
Also, while I had the bumper off, I replaced the bullet holed glass fog lenses that were completly destroyed from road debris. I chose to replace the pooly designed barely tempered glass lenses that were stock with GE LEXAN lenses that are supposed to be bullet proof (or at least more rock resistant). Beats paying Acura for the whole fog lamp assembly!!!
Removal of the old lenses was a little tricky. With the bumper off, the fog lamp assembly comes out by removing 1 screw and a clamp and the whole unit rocks out of its mount. There is a metal frame with 3 clips on the top and bottom that is easily removed with a small flat screwdriver. Removing the old glass from the lens proved to be more difficult that I had barganed for. Although the glass they used in the lens was pretty cheap, the silicone glue they used to hold and seal the lens was not. The only way that I found that worked without damaging the frame of the lens was to bust the lens with a screwdriver and using a thich pair of leather gloves to pry the glass pieces off of the frame. Then I used a common screwdriver to scrape the old silicone glue from the frame before putting a new bead of silicone and installing the new lenses. No leaks and no bullet holes yet !! Looks better that the origional lenses too !!
