Bad luck!

Hey guys so it snowed here alot over the weekend. So I parked the tl and was driving the wife pilot since sunday, Until yeterday i say what the hell ill just drive it to work and back about a 1.5 mile drive. So i go to work everything is fine and dandy till im on my way home I almost made it home with no incident untill I was backing into my parking spot . It seems the front lower bumper got hooked on a peice of ice and ripped the bumper damn near all the way off . So now Im kicking myself in the ass for even driving the car and im wondering how much too fix this? Looking like I will need a new bumper, passengerside mudguard, and the whole inside of the wheel well since all of those have been ripped out . Anyone have a idea what the bill will look like? Im waiting for the insurance adjuster to take a look at it sometime this week. From now on its no tl in the snow.

A repeated 1.5 mile journey will kill the engine on a car.

Im estimating somewhere between $400-$600 parts and labor unless u get lucky and find used parts on ebay, or this forum, or maybe even a junkyard, u never know look around you may get lucky and save a lot of $$.

Well try ebay for parts. You'll just need a new bumper cover and not the bumper reinforcement, mudgard should be pretty cheap, the wheel well im not sure. But I mean if you can get the bumper cover in your color, install should be pretty easy. As long as you get the parts without having to be painted, you dont have to go to a bodyshop for labor, and can be done fairly cheap.

Yeah but it won't kill the engine. Its true that this is not the best for engine wear but that is why it is recommended to change the oil more frequently (falls under "severe" driving). Not a big deal and not relevant to Red's issue.

Sorry to hear about that Red. Is the car currently lowered? If so that probably didn't help. Might be time to get some coilovers so you can adjust the height for winter driving. Good luck getting it taken care of.

That's terrible sorry about the bad luck you might look in to a shop other than acura to do your body work it should be cheaper. My acura dealer doesn't even have a body shop.
