Bad to gate shift under everyday driving?

dunno but i HATE my TL S in traffic....it would be pretty much the same as having a 6MT.....it kicks in and out of gears and is just so unsmooth....soo....when i'm in traffic for a long time i just gate shift to 2nd and leave it there so it doesn't kick in and out of first.

I use SS in traffic...Never used gate shifting for that purpose.

yup I know what you mean...but I have a '99, so maybe my tranny is "normal" when compared to other trannies and I think I may be nice to it from now on

I tend to use the SS mode all the time, just because I don't like gate shifting when I get out of the city and onto hwy. SS alows me to sprint past people then throw it into D5 when I am cruising!
