Question automatic down shifting in SS mode?? Help...

Hi guys,
I was on highway crusing at 100km/h, and decided to have some fun, so I shifted to SS mode (displayed 5th gear). then i punched the gas and downshift twice in a roll... in a sec i m in 2nd gear.. i was like what the hell.. down shift twice in a roll I should be in 3rd not 2nd. so i tried again, same thing happened.. so it seemed even in ss mode the car still downshift for you when you punch the gas..... so is it normal? thanks

Hi Y2K_TL, I live in Toronto as well.

Anywayz, if you are in sports shift mode, it won't downshift for you unless you are going too slow. In your case, I think there might be some minor problem with your tranny. Well, The computer at least.

When I crusing at 100Km/h, I won't even be able to downshift into the second gear unless I let go of the gas. And even when I am able to get it down to the 2nd gear, the engine would be reving at 5500rpm or something like that. Which means that I have to shift up a sec after. When I am in 5th, and tap the shifter 3 times. 3rd gear is as far as it will go.

Maybe you can tap it once and see if it goes to the 4th or the 3rd. If it goes to the 3rd, get your car to the dealer ASAP.

It is just me, or does it seem that more and more people are finding little quirks (I don't want to say problems) with the TL transmission? I'm still waiting for my replacement PCM to come in to fix my issues.

Well, woohoo for you!
Jusk kiddin'... I'm sure that there a bunch of people that have no problems, I'm just saying that it seems there are more people that are finding "quirks". Either that or I'm just on this board too much lately and my brain's fried.

Me neither. I don't think SS will let me downshift to 2nd from 5th doing 100km/h (Is that about 65 mph, right?)

But Acura3200 is right tho.... I've heard enough stories about ppl's tranny acting up. Weird.
