yes honda atf is the same thing. just search for a 3x3 trans fluid drain and youll be set. everytime u drain it u fill it up with 3quarts (just a little bit more than 3) but on your final fill check the level and top it off. DO NOT OVER FILL

Yes, use the Honda ATF. My question is how often should the ATF be changed? I recall reading in the manual that it was like 10 yrs or 100,000 miles. IS that right?

acura used to have a high change interval that keeps coming down on the new cars
Its because of the problem the 5 speeds have with the clutch packs
scroll thru the gen2 threads for anything that says 3x3 trans fluid
there is a plug on the bottem rear of trans- big letters ATF on it- the other drain down there says OIL, its for the engine

basically you warm the car up dring 10 miles then drain 3 qts- the trans holds 7.3 but will only give up 3 at a time
add 3 new HONDA ZR1 fluid drive 5 minutes around the blovk makling sure to go up and down thru each gear including park so the old remaining fluid is pushed from the valves and such into the drain pan, drain 3- add 3 drive 5 drain 3 add 3

Only way to check for full level is drive 15 minutes cruising on freeway
then pull off offramp and turn off engine- pull and wipe dispstick off and reinsert- remove
check dipstick- engine OFF-- it should be close to the upper dot
anywhere between the dots is ok- it gets higher on the reading with more heat in it...

My mom friend help us do a tranny drain, but it was a little bit different. He drain, and then add in 3.5 bottle and I drove around. The next day, he draine some more and left it there for about 2 hrs. He pour in 3.5 bottle and ask me to drive around. I came back and he added .5 bottle. My mom drive a Toyota.

I change my fluid every 10,000 miles or every third oil change. It's easy to do and hopefully by using cleaner fluid my tranny will last longer.
Misinformation above. The proper way to check the Tran. fluid level is with the car warmed up and sitting level with the engine off. The 15 mins. of highway cruising etc. is not necessary and will only confuse people here. The fluid will expand when it's warm or hot but it's not necessary to drive 15 miles to check it. We need to check it when warm, sitting level, engine off.

Wont help. I did it and mine failed as usual in the usual amount of time (actually less miles than the others had)

I change my mom's 00 TL transmission fluid at every oil change (just drain and refill). I notice that if I don't change it when it hits 6K miles or so, the fluid gets very dark (almost black).
