Auto headlights/Interior Map lights

Alright I know if you leave the headlights on after locking your car it turns off after 15 seconds or so.....But..... the car chimes! Do I have to deal with the sound??? Also....are the maplights supposed to turn on when I open the door like most cars? Only the dome light turns on...why it matters because I just converted stock bulbs with LED's... THankz

The auto-off headlights is a precaution, not designed for you to actively use - even though you can and many do, this is why the car chimes. After all, 15 seconds isn't much time, anyway. It's an Acura TL, not a Ford Taurus.

And only the dome light is supposed to come on. The map-lights come on in my 05 AV6 but not in my TL.

yes there is. its really complicated, you have to go underneath the steering wheel column and you'll see a huge bundle of wires running up to the dashboard.. you need to cut the wire that goes from the fuse box that determines if your doors is opened or close and see if you can match it up with where the door alert chimer power wire is conected.. its really complicated and the only way for you to really get the exact right one is if you have the 00-03 3.2TL manual.

Well it does get annoying when your key is still in and your door is open and you're doing something like talking to someone... or whatever... and it chimes on and on and on.....

I have a solution for you:

Turn off your lights like a regular person.

Things like; auto on/off lights, auto door locks, auto volume for the radio, etc., are such an American car thing. Plain annoying
You won't see any of these mindless features in a BMW, or any other Euro car for example, or the TL thank goodness....manufactures of these driver oriented cars believe their owners have enough sense to know when they want their head lights on and don't need the car to tell them when.
Cheers!

Yeah, instead BMW has the mindless feature of Active Cruise Control that slows the car down when the driver isn't bright enough to slow down on his own.

Could you believe that one....I guess if your prone to falling asleep at the wheel with your cruise on, it;s a good thing.
I keep my right thumb ready to jump on the cancel button when I'm in cruise....don't think I would trust any distronic control when cars are getting close. And it won't slow you down for the radar cop behind the next overpass.
