apexi vafc / 140+mph
anybody got their car dyno-ed with vafc installed?
what's the optimal setup?
I just lowered the vtec engagement point.
I did 140+mph yesterday!!!
I was going down on 5 freeway at 3 am yesterday. This stupid integra ...I don't know what he was thinking... It was fixed up pretty good but still...
anyways, came right next to me and tried to hit me up!!!
so i down shifted to third at 75mph...and went for it....
the rest... at 100 i think i was couple of car length ahead...
i was thinking ...what the heck...might was well test my car's limit... i kept on going without caring about the other guy...
it went pretty quick... setting the vtec at 4000 made the difference ....i think ...to me at least.... before when i tried i was stuck at 120.....soooo slow...
but at 140 and still going.....i thought maybe i should stop here...
i realized ....a curve approaching pretty fast....at 140mph...
i slow down....and i saw a fixed up v6 accord and slowed down right next to him...and this time i tried to hit him up...
but he wouldn't go... he saw me from way far....approaching sooo fast... maybe got scared?
well...that pretty much covers it!!!

When I had my car tuned, we found that advancing the VTEC did bring the power up a bit earlier, but it also made the line a lot less smooth...we opted for smooth and set it at the stock setting of 4800...

I would agree with nate on this one "IF" I have the controller. I'd set the vtech to turn on when the butterfly vavle opens up which is 3800. I dont know why you'd want to be adding in more fuel without the proper air mixture by setting it below the butterfly vavle value.

I would imegine that redline in 3rd would bring you to more than 3800 rpm. probably above 4800rpm so that it would stay on the boil.
Engagaing the vtec lower will not usually give more power. The cams profile are useless at low rpm due to the lack or air flow and velocity of said air flow. Take a regular car (say a VW Golf) and add big cams that have long duration and big lift. At low rpm they are not making more power (probably less) but when you get "on the cam" you feel a distinct pull. Just like vtec. Good power and torque down low and better top end when the cam switches profiles.
