A'PEXi Digital VTEC AFC
In another thread NSXNEXT mentioned that they had a A'PEXi Digital VTEC AFC on their TL.
I was wondering how many people have gone with that modification and what experiences that they've had with it. Problems or Benefits.
Thanks -

I was looking into it. Read the manual for it. You tap into the wires going into the ECU and monitor things like RPM, throttle, VTEC, etc. It allows tuning air/fuel mixture and vTEC engagement point. It is cool toy but I thought you can get much performance benefit out of it. You probably have better chance of messing up the balance of the engine by confusing the ECU. Seems dangerous to mess with ECU w/o knowing what the software does....

Yeah, I have one but I never installed it. From what I've heard and read, it really won't do much for my car. Unless you go with NOS, turbo, or a supercharger, it won't do much. If your TL is stock, it won't do amything.
hello guys,
before i write what i know...keep in mind this is what i read...and heard...so its just lil fyi...may not be 100% right.
with that out of the way...here's what i know. nsxnext is correct in terms of it not doing much for a car without supercharger, turbo, etc. bascially...a'pexi said (i read it off their site) a car without modification has no use for it whatsoever. on the other hand...the more modification...the more useful it is. to make it more understandable, keep in mind the purpose of the apexi afc is to allow a car to change the fuel mixture, compression, air flow, etc. needed for the engine to run. now with that in mind...here's the reason for modification. when you're car was made, it was programmed with a set of perfect combination for the right compression rate, fuel mixture, blah blah. but with modifications put on...that combination is tweaked a lil...and the preprogrammed set of data is no longer the "perfect" set for maximum performance. now with each added engine modification done...the set of data requires more and more adjustment. thats where the apexi afc comes in. it allows you to make the adjusments. i hope i'm explaining it well enough so you guys can understand what i'm trying to say.
