Last nite, I tested my car out at WOT. But the car acted weird. I pull the pedal to the metal. It was moving fast. Oh yeah fast. But It keep revving up to 5500 rpm on first gear and kept on going w/o shifting. I had to brake to the metal for the car to stop and the car kept on revving at 5500 rpm n still wanted to move. I had to put it in neutral to see if the car would stop revving..but it didn't. I turned the car off, waited for 2 secs n turned it back on and it stilled revved straight up to 5500 rpm. I then turned it off, put it into park, and turned it back on. It revved up to 5500 rpm for 3-4 secs and then went down to idle. Do you think it's my transmission? Or was my throttle valve stuck at WOT and it wouldn't close?

 

not the tranny, throtle could have been stuck. id be carefull and if it happens again id bring it in

 

Sounds like stuck throttle. Just as serious as bad brakes. If the throttle gets stuck while driving in a parking lot or something, the result could be... bad. Take it in right away.

We can rule out the transmission because you said you put it in Park and it still revved to 5,500 RPM.

I just had the ICEBOX installed 2 weeks ago. This was my first time testing it out.

 

That's your clue right there, the cables for the throttle body got stuck somehow, take it to the dealer or check that nothing is jammed. Who did the installation of the Ice Box?

 

I did a search on the throttle body being stuck but not much info on how to really clean it. Anyone know?
