Anyone know how to replace a brake pad spring on the rear caliper?

I was replacing the rear pads and found this yesterday.

It appears some how the previous pad grinded the metal and ate it away.

Anyone know how to replace it? Its part #13 from the diagram below. The part is only $6 from Acura.

Thanks

Hi Bxscig :

It's very simple if my memory serves me. There are two tabs on the top and bottom of the spring that you need to bend or force through the rectangular opening.

It's all clear if you turn the caliper over from your picture.

Seemed like the only way was to force it but wasn't sure if the spring would get mangled if it was bent.

you dont really need it, not all cars even came with it!
The purpose is to push down on the pads to cut down on noise
Many of us here dont have them and no problem

Throw it out- You dont need it

Use brake caliper grease on the slider tab metal for the pad tab ends, thats where the movement is during braking,
and some on the back of the pads where contact is made with the caliper piston or the outer fingers touch it.

When I drive right now there is a light metal on metal sound... I think it is most probably from that since it is on the same same where the sound is coming from. Rotating the rotor when the wheel is off, the same metal on metal sound is there until i shift the pad slightly. All the parts mentioned I have already greased.

Apply pressure to it. It pops out.

Bend it so it doesn't rub the rotor. Common issue.
