Anyone in Jersey tint their ride?
I read the draconian laws New Jersey passed regarding tinting (no front window tint at all, but you can tint in the back) and I was wondering if anyone has had it done or seen what it looks like. In my mind's eye the look will be that of a chauffered limousine, am I wrong? If you can post a picture I'd really appreciate it. Thanks :o

Thanks for the pic. Not my taste. I have a black ride so it will look too much like the chauffered limo look. I'm thinking of just getting the whole thing done anyway, take my chances.

I have 20% tints all around and back, including the top part of the front windshield. I got pulled over once by my house for my front tints but he gave me a warning. But I did not take them off. If you see a cop around just drive with your front windows down. That's what I do.![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
IMO, just tinting the back won't look right. I will post pic when I get home tonight.

Since I do most of my driving in NYC anyway, I'm thinking of getting 20% all around, except for the front windshield. I don't need to attract too much attention!
BTW= for the states that allow some tinting, how do cops know what % tint you got? How can they tell between say 25% and 35% ?

I have my wife's CR-V tinted all around (9 windows). Everything behind the driver is 5% and the front two are 35%. It's very slick. She was pulled over once at a checkpoint and they asked her about the windows but didn't give her a ticket. She blamed the windows on me to the cop!

They know what percent tint you have because they make you roll your window down and put a device on your glass that tells them how much light goes thru the glass. I have 20% all around and have yet to have a problem.

If I registered my car in PA, but I drive my car mostly in NJ.
If cops pull me over in NJ; could they give me a ticket for the tint in the front windows that is legal in PA?
Thanks!

Nah, that would not make any sense. If that was the case, hypothetically someone with tint could be pulled over in every state since the laws vary so widely. When you register in a state you agree that your car will conform to that state's standards, not to all of them.
The reason the Jersey police would pull you over is not for having the tint, it's for not conforming to Jersey auto standards. But if you don't live in Jersery and you're car is not registered there, you don't need to conform to Jersey standards.
This is not my legal opinion, just one based on common sense.

I've always had 20% tints on my cars so I definitely am used to having it. My friend has a Black TLS with 20% and it looks great.
I got mine done for $125 in the Five Towns area, but the going rate is about $150-$170.
