Question Anyone have these rims?

I think I want to get these rims but I'm torn as to what size. If I get 18x7.5 I'm sure I'll bust a tire eventually because of these damn NYC roads!

I wanted to go with the 17x7.5 to be a little bit safer but not sure what I want anymore!

Does anyone have a pic with these rims on a TL?

Wsup rmarin2, i'm gonna get those exact same rims also. but i think i'm a get 19" x 7.5 maybe. i dunno yet. but i'm pretty sure i'm gonna get the 19's though. i think u should go with the 18's but everytime u see a ditch or a hole just go over it really slow. anyways, gl with ur buy man!

That's my point. I can't avoid every single pothole. That's why if I went with a 17x7.5 at least the one's I miss wouldn't hurt so much!! SO TORN!!

I love the look of an 18 but don't want to compromise ride quality anymore!!

Personal opinion, for what it's worth, If you're not going to get at least 18s, why bother. The stock 17s look very similar to these, so why spend all that money on them?

I would actually agree with you if it wasn't because I hate that the stock rim is only 6.5" wide. By going with a 7.5 I get a bigger contact patch and a pretty damn fine looking rim if I do say so myself!!

I love the look of those rims, simple but aggresive. I agree with everyone else. You have to go with 18's. I live in Queens, NYC and i know the roads can be bad, but you just have to find other routes now with better conditions :p When I find a set of rims, no smaller than 18's for me

Where in Queens do you live? I'm in Glen Oaks. It's just before the Nassau County border!

I would definitely not go with 19's. With my car already lowered, I might as well just drive around on my rotors. MY 2 cents!! I'll leave the 19's to the big boys.

I just don't want to degrade the ride quality anymore. I think 18x7.5 combined with my H&R springs might degrade the ride quality too much. Like I said before.... SO TORN!!

You gotta at least do 18's! 215/45/18 will be close to stock diameter = accurate speedo = fewer tickets, maybe.
Otherwise 245/40/18 is close, but will probably look bobo on a 7.5" wide rim.
And 225/45 is a little too tall IMO.

I agree with JBrown, go 18's at least. 225/40/18 was perfect on my TL!

How about meeting up with someone that has 18's and H&R Sport springs? That way you can feel the ride quality first hand. I think you would like it.

I would not tell anyone try to run a 245 series tires. No enough room under there.

rmarin2,

If you're over in Glen Oaks, I'm so close to you. I'm over in Bellerose near the Nassau border also. We should meet up and compare notes. Where do you get your work done? because i'm a frequent shopper of a couple of the import tuner shops around here. Let me know.

Hey FreDroRn, I used to live in Bellerose when I was in High School. I lived on Winchester, 1/2 block south of Hillside! I went to Van Buren High School!!

Anyway, as for import tuner shops, I really don't visit them unless I need to buy parts, i.e. bulbs, or misc stuff. I usually do all the work myself. For big things like springs I went to Park Ave Acura and while I was there I had them do the sway bars. I did the intake, brake lines, and some small electrical work myself.

Let me know when your free and we could definitely meet up! We'll meet over at Alley Pond Park, the parking lot in the front!

dude just my 2 cents.....

I just went to Manhattan in my TL with the stock 16's about 2 months ago. IT WAS HELL on my car. I spent the whole night cringing. I honestly can't believe you NYC guys drive those things that they call "roads". You certainly have the worst in the country. Cool as hell city, horrible roads.

I'm a 19's man all the way...but if I lived in NYC, I'd probably get something smaller. Actually...hell I'd probably take the train everywhere I went instead. Screw a car in that city...it's unreal.

And to think that not too long ago I was complaining about our FEW potholes!!! Shame on me!!

I'm so used to the roads already here in Queens and NYC and i know so many side streets to get me where i need to go with the least amount of pain. I'm kind of used to the ride since my Civic had 17's with 205/45 tires = very rough ride but great look and great handling.
In the end, it's all worth the headache when people stare at your car in awe because of the great look.

I saw a guy driving in San Jose, the pearl blue TL-S, at 5:00am in the morning one time. He had those rims. I'm not sure if he's on the boards, but it looked cool.

Buy the rims you want and like...not what your friends wants or likes. Best advice I can give.
