Post anyone fix the wrinkled tape on the door?

we talked about it a while ago. the tape that outlines the top part of the door frames on the exterior. mine wrinkled at one of the joints...not even 1 cm worth
the dealer said they can do it, but it will have to be re-painted rather than re-taped.

he said it'll match the other sides but im not sure if its worth the trouble. they have to take apart the whole door. i might end up with more problems after its finished

i have 6K miles/6 months to decide until my warranty is out

any of you do it? any problems? did it match perfectly?

(on top of all that, i'll have to be without a car for 2 days)

good question. i have wrinkles in the rear part too. I wonder if its just a 99 thing. Anyways, my car is black so its really not a big deal, but i guess if they'll do it for free, and will give me a loaner, and it won't do more harm than good, why not.

I took mine to South Coast Acura. They took care of it under warranty.

I had mine fixed and I think they repainted them (I can't remember it was a while ago). It looks fine you can't tell anything was ever done.

Peel the wrinkle off and take it back to the dealer. They should strip and repaint all the trim. That is what they did for my '99. The service guy mentioned that there is a service bulletin on this.

There is a service bulletin on this.

The dealer should fix it without a problem.

I just got my TL back from Park Ave Acura. They were fixing that problem plus a few other warranty items. You should get it fix since it is under warranty. My TL was nice and shiny when I picked it up. Wow, they washed my TL and gave me a free T-shirt too.

I went to the alldata website to see the Service bulletin for my car. But a lot of the issues were before 99, so how can it be for my car? Where can i find specific issues i should look into for the 99 model?

Of particular concern to me is inacurrate fuel gauge, and the TCS issue. My TCS light does not stay on, but if i push the button it comes on. I've heard that pushing the button really means taking it off though.

this is the link to go see what i'm talking about: http://www.alldata.com/TSB/01/99010926.html

Pimpn- The TCS light is supposed to come on when you push the button. That is to tell you it is deactivated. Push the button again and it will go off- indicating the system is again active. the light will flash when the system is actually doing something to control the car. As for the fuel gage, there is a bulletin (99-036) that addresses this issue. It tells us to replace the fuel sending unit in the tank if the gage is inaccurate between 1/2 and full or doesn't go to full when filled up.

Wayne,

Okay when i fill up my gas, it does go to full, is that the only test to see if the fuel gauge is in proper condition? I want to know cuz i only have 10k miles left on the warranty. Also, I told my service rep. that while in drive, the tranny lets me go into reverse (happened twice, by pure acccident during sport shifting). He said that that is normal as long as the gear didn't engage, which it didn't. What do you say?

Much appreciated
