Anyone Else Think the Car Ceiling is "unfinished"?

I was crawling around my car to try and locate and fix the latest creaks and noises in my car... And for the first time, I actually looked at the back of the car fabric ceiling...

Am I the only one who thinks it is a crap job? The fabric just seems to end, with a huge gap that you can stick you hand into... Then I checked the front... Same sloppy finish...

This just seems sub par by almost every measure...

And I can see how the car makes a lot of little creaks and noises... Push up on the celing a bit and there is all kinds of little creaks... I bet a lot of noises are coming from the ceiling...and I bet an open sunroof doesn't help...

Am I the only one that notices this? Or perhaps the guys at the tint place forgot to put a finishing trim piece back after tinting?

Anyone, please confirm that you have the same experience... Or that I am wrong... Cuz if I am wrong, I want to go and get the finishing trim from the dealer... (I doubt the tint shop would still have it if it was an omission on their part)...

Thanks all...

I will check it out later on today. I havent noticed anything so far but hopefully the finish is not as bad as you make it sound!

It probably is not as bad as I describe...after all, if you haven't noticed, how bad could it be?

I didn't even notice it until I started crawling around and searching for interior noises...

When I press up against the ceiling, it makes some noise that kinda sounds like velcro... I wonder with the road vibration, whether this is the source of some of the interior noise I hear from time to time...

In a way, I am hopeful that you will come back and tell me that yours is not like that...and that all I need to do is go and get the finishing trim from my dealer... Cuz even though it is not THAT bad... It doesn't seem like a very professional "fit and finish" in my opinion...

I have looked very closely at my ceiling this past weekend while cleaning the interior. I didn't notice anything unfinished. Even after 4 yrs of ownership, it still looks great.

My ceiling looks great...with the exception of the back and front edge where the ceiling comes to an abrupt end...

Can you check the ends for me? Again, my hope is not to confirm that it is bad...if yours is all good, then I need to get something fixed!

Note: It may be important to note that I have the 2003 TL-S... Not sure if the ceiling design changed since you mentioned you have owned yours for 4 years...

anyone know what some alternative squeaks might be in the ceiling liner (in particular around the dome light)? ive had the tsb sunroof squeak done one time however the squeak seems to go away while pressing around various parts. its highly annoying and im about to jump out the window some times when im driving.

back to the topic, the fitting seems tight enough on mine, nothing that sticks out.

What year is your car? I am trying to figure out if this is not a problem at all, or if this may be an issue with the 02/03s...

Thanks for checking... I just went back into my car... I can't put my hand in the gap, but I can get my fingertips into it pretty easily... And it doesn't seem to be attached very securely...

I probably made it sound worse than it is... But I still think they could have done much better... It has a lot of "velcro-like" noise when you press up against it, or put your fingertips in there...

I guess I just expect more out of a car I spent over 30 grand for...

i have teh squeek that sounds like its coming from in the area of the dome light. it only happens when the weather is colder. i havent pulled the headliner apart yet but i found sticking a finger between the sunshade and the headliner stops it (i usually stick a AA battery in size wedge inbetween there and it stops

ooh. i usually push on it upward instead of pull downward. i didnt think about shoving a battery in there. it does seem to come and go with the colder weather im just wondering wtf it is/might be. perhaps when its warmer ill get more motivated to screw with it.

for along while i thought it was the rubber on the inside of the little finish trim piece that finishes off where the moon roof opening is, well in a rage one day i riped that out, and it still made noise. i need to figure out whats causing it one of these days
