Post Anyone Else Feel Let down? TL-S

Call me a sore loser or whatever. the new TL is a cool car, but i was glad acura didn't gimme fake fogs so i could get real ones. I wish i had those reflector hids. the sport seats r nice, but still, it feels like acura dropped the ball, somehow. Oh, does anyone know if those are the same rims as the cls?

No they are different by just a bit. I hate that they made the rear exactly the same!! I didn't want it to look like the CL but now I can't use the Inspire tails!! I don't want to be a fake "Type S"!!!!!!!!

I am let down alittle. The sketch looked cooler, then the photos...I do like the seats, but not enough to trade my 2000 TL for.. At least not by the photos, I will have to see it, and drive it.

I'm not let down, except for the white dash gages. That's not my preference.

I also have a distaste for the strange bulge in the headlights that goes down into the bumper. I don't want my car to look like a Monte Carlo!

I will probably trade my car for a Type-S if I can get a suitable color scheme and a good deal from the dealer.

I will want to see if my snow tires will clear the brakes (not that big of a deal), and if the comptech exhaust I already bought will fit the new car.

I think they've given us what we want with the Type-S. Now if they only make enough of them...

The new TL-S is a cool car, but I am glad it isn't so cool that I have to trade my car in. It actually really still looks like our cars, at least to most of the public, but just has some better performance. Yeah the front end is nice, but looks a little too much like the CL. Not enough of a change for me to take a hit. I really like the way my TL drives and am still happy to mod my car. We all knew they's go to the Inspire tails, but I'm kinda bummed that we were right...oh well. Over all, its good to see Acura is responding to what most of us enthusiasts wanted. That blue is nice though

I feel let down because every single one of these supposed "changes" were already available in the 2-door CL/CL-s. All these changes were TOTALLY PREDICTABLE. So when the car came out with an "all-new" tag, the statement sounded hollow almost assuming that the people hearing it are morons.

I would have thought that the 2001 TL/TL-s would have had these changes....since they were already present in the 2001 CL/CL-s that had come out a few months earlier...

The 2002 model which came out through the auto show, should have had something extraordinary - not predictable stuff like 6-cd indash changer (like the CL), 260hp motor (like the CL-s), driving lights (like the CL), 17-inch wheels with 215 tires (similar to the CL-s), rear-tilting passenger mirrors (like the CL), VSA (like the CL-s), different front-end (like the CL).....every single one of these changes were predictable....the predictablity of the changes took the thrill out of the waiting....."all-new" ?? My foot...bah..no biggie

I think the changes are conservative and appreciated. I had a 2001 on order but changed my order when I found out that the type S was coming out in March. The dealer thought (in Aug) that the 2001 would have all the features that are now on the 2002. I wasn't expecting as many changes. I wasn't expect pretensioners, auto up drivers' window improved outside mirrors(to reduce wind noise). I'm happy except I can't get the color I wanted.

Yeah AC if you can take out a CL-S I bet you can take out the TL-S too. The 2002 is probably much heavier.

They didn't seem to mention much of NVH in the video. They did say that the side mirrors are more aerodynamic to get rid of some noise. I hope this doesn't mean that Squeaks and rattles come standard on all '02 models...

Bobatimez: I think I have to agree with you, I like the looks of your "type-s" more than the real deal.

Cool TL: It's not a fake Type-S until you sport that Type-S badge on the back of your car too.

I fell kinda cheated. I also think that the new TL-s front looks like a Ford Contour, does anyone else notice this?

thankx, Prez. Makes me feel a lot less insecure. I just hate that they took the inspire tails. nothing is sweeter than being subtly, yet dramatically different. maybe it'll have the orange bulb inside and it'll look nasty.

anyway, I still wish i had one to mod around. I'm going to the show today and will bring back pics.

can we get the onstar thing?

Question

i think they could have done better with the styling, like most people said looks just like the CL. Also I wonder how much all the extra equipment will affect the performance.

i think the only people satisfied w/the type s tl... would have to be the CL lovers that wanted their desing in four door lol.
i'm very very dissapionted but relieved that is made choosing the next car much easier...
i totally love my car now, and glad i won't be out done by a CL, i mean sorry, TL-S so i guess i'm a bit happier about the new design but in a bad way lol if that makes sense.
maybe a slite change in the rear could make me happier, but they decided to only change the lighs...(wow, something we thought of 2 years ago)
i guess we will look like wanna b type S's... w/the inpire lights... but i rather look like that, than like an idiot w/yellow ones lol or amber whatever you call it.
but hey, by the time that car hits the road, i'm sure many of us will already be getting rid of our current TL's.

Granted the TL-S is sort of an upgrade from our '99-'01 TL with all those upgraded options and stuff but I still feel that our models provide much more real-world value. In-dash CD-Changer is nice, but with lots of us talking 'bout changing our HU for aftermarket ones makes this option worthless. Memory seats are nice but if you're the only one that drives the car this options seems worthless too! Like the 260 ponies....hmmm..that's 'bout all right now. Need to see it in person.

Has anyone seen any performance figures for the new TL-S? I predict that it won't be more than a few tenths quicker 0-60 and that the stock handling on the new model doesn't increase beyond .8g.

Overall, don't be bummed about your current TL models. Especially for the guys who have made mods, you're not going to get dusted by this new car. Hope everyone doesn't go trading in now. Hold on to your current TL, wait to see what happens with the market on the new TL-s, and by the time you're ready to move on again, you'll be treated to the newest set of improvements available in the car market in 2 more years. Power does seem to being going up, up, up. Happy driving.

So as I read this.. to all the *****ing and whining that went on for the last year of I want this feature and I want that feature and the CL has this and the CL has that and why can't we and the Accord has this and why can't we.. so Honda finally does it and this is the applause they get ???? Christ. Grow Up.
