and get scratches on the windows because of them?

I swear on my life that I will never use those damn things again. When my Tahoe was still new, I got a really bad scratch on the rear window because of it.

And just yesterday, I got 4 big scratches on the windshield of the TL because something was stuck in that damn washer/squeezy thing.

2 of them are right in my view, so they are annoying. I might have to get a new windshield -- I got 3 rock chips on it, anyway.

Ughh..

I know this may sound super anal, but I dunk the thing 3 or 4 times and visually inspect the spongey part before I use it. The scratches happened to a buddy of mine during a road trip and I learned that lesson from him. I guess this doesn't help you now...sorry to hear that!!

No, that is not anal at all. In fact, I am an idiot for not having done that.

I am so ticked off right now.

agreed! but at times its just a need to use those things......... bugs, birdshit, or the person next to you splashing thier spray at you! it'll do a cleaner job on the corners our car wipers cant reach, BUT they do scratch when dirty!

just think, wouldn't it be cool to wrap our cars in plastic wrap after washing it to avoid all this headache

I was kind of hoping for the gamma-ray force field, but plastic wrap will suffice for now.

Good heads up guys on the gas-station squeegies! I never thought about that thing scratching my windshield. I've used them a few times on my car, and thankfully no damage from it. I will avoid them from now on.

My only windshield scratch came two winters ago when my GF was clearing snow off my windshield with a damn scraper! :'( I hate those things, which is why I only use towels. But she went out bright and early before work to do a "nice" thing for me, so I bit the tongue on that one.

I only use gas station squeegies on my old truck to clean gas off the quarter panel if the automatic cutoff doesn't work for some reason. I would never use those things on my TL. Just plain nasty. Works great for cleaning gas off my old truck though....tee hee..

I think I've used them only once during a night drive through Penn, there were just too many bugs and that I couldn't get off with the wipers, I didn't have a choice.

I only use them on my girlfriend's CR-V. When it comes to the TL-S I hate wiping down all that fluid runoff down the A-pillar and the fenders with one of those paper towels.

NO.....I don't use the windshield wipers either....

RainX owns me. It's the perfect windshield for it too. Very sloped so the rain just flies off the windshield.

My brother has been telling me for months now to apply RainX on my windows. I guess I'll do that while I'm at home for the week.

I luv Rain-X...no film for me.

Are you using the liquid version or the other version(it's like a creamy wax). I've had better results with the clear liquid.
