Arrow Any solution to this problem? Seen it before?

I just got my 2000 TL, and there is a problem I noticed- you know how the armrests attached to the doors in the back are vinyl and padded with the black plastic strip in the middle that contains the ashtray and power window button? Well the vinyl is seperating a bit from the middle black plastic area and it won't stay when I push it back in. Any solutions because I would hate to send it to the Acura dealer and have them charge me an arm and a leg just to see it?

they wont charge you to look at it, they may even offer up a good solution if you go there on a semi regular basis. if not, you can always refuse their service after they look at it right?

I have this problem in my '99... on the driver's side. I just learned to ignore it. In fact, I had forgotten about it until I read this post!

DUDE! I have this problem...

I just bought my 2000 last week. I have this problem on the passenger rear door. I don't know if it was like this when I bought it. I would have thought that I would have noticed it.

Anyway, I am having a local dealer replace the armrest on Friday. Thankfully, I am still under warranty.

After it is done, I can post the part number and cost if you like.

My 94' Talon did that and I too was looking for a way to fix it. I tried super-glue and stuff like that but it just came apart again.

As far as I know, the cure is to replace the door handle. Which I am having done tomorrow.

Wow I notice new things all the time because of this board. I noticed both of mine are separating a bit but not enough to bother me. I would have never looked or known otherwise. Has anybody tried the Epoxy resin that you have to mix? I know for a fact that will work for you but be sure you dont get it on the switch. I had a similar problem with my previous lincoln and it worked great no matter how hot or cold it was.

Good luck

Okay! Just got back from the dealer's service shop. I had them replace my rear passenger door handle/trim. Looks great, and only took about 1/2 hour.

The part number is:
83734-S0K-A00ZA

I do not know the cost. It was replaced under warranty.
