Any regrets re: your mods?

Just wondering if anyone has any regrets or was disappointed with any specific mod they have done to their Second Gen. Anyone spent money on something and not have the mod do what you were expecting? Or ever look back now and wish you hadn't changed something specific?

my magnaflow custom cat back!!!

i swap with a guy in this forum for my stock one couple days ago. those are the 4" tip ones that hide behind my WW, now my kit's getting smoked!! Plus the "custom catback" is the "worest weld job ever seen" from my local muffler house.

Those 4" muffler can get on ebay by 89 dollars each. The shipping fee i paid for both trips and the money for fixing the bad weld are way more than that. Pluse, the cat back makes them so fucking loud, i cant barely hear my gf talking besides me.

btw, anyone knows how can i do to make them little bit quite? put the little thing (forget wut it's called) back to the pipe under the car? Maybe i should start a thread on this.

Sorry for the long post, just need to shout.

first, the guy doin it should've made it so the mufflers sit nicely into the cut-outs of the kit so it doesn't melt the body kit. The weld job isn't part of the magnaflow exhaust so unfortunatley the guy who traded u shouldve shown u pics of the weld.

since u traded ur stock exhaust i take it u don't have ur stock resonator. Ur piping probably doesn't have a resonator/muffler on it to lessen the sound before it gets to the mufflers. www.completeexhaust.com , and look for an 18 or 22" muffler that can match the same diameter as ur piping after the cat. Since u want it quiet, i'd go with 22". I have 18" and the exhaust still drones pretty loud.

last gen OBX Stainless Steel headers. resonance bothers the hell out of me...plus i spent 8hours replacing them with the stock ones and last week in an attempt to get rid of the resonanace by tightening the bolts pretty hard, i broke one of the damm studs

= $1.50 and another 4hr to replace it

Oh wow! Ouch! What repairs did you have to do, and didn't insurance total your car (unless the damage wasn't worth as much as the value of your car...not sure what year your car is)?

thats why im still debating whether or not i should get a aem V2 cai or not.. i dont want the comptech icebox.. i want actually cai but the risk of getting water up there will kill my car.

my worst was getting axxis ultimates.. paid 120 + 80 labor for front and back and it was squealing so freakin loud that it even blocked off civic fart can noises right next to me. GAH.. so i went out spend another 130 + 80 for labor for EBC greenstuff. but this time, its really quiet so its all good. 410 dollars spent for a decent set of brake pads!!!

Well it was in September '04, which means the car had about 15k miles on it at the time. They were going to total it out (there were 3 cars at the dealership that week alone from flood damage, and the other two got totaled) but my father and me did a hell of a job getting the water out of the engine bay. It turns out there was no engine damage so they decided to just give us a break and repair it. They replaced every single computer in the car (and there's like 11 in there) and they gave me a brand spanking new interior. The total damage was like $11,900 altogether. The car should've been totaled but they gave us a break, I guess.

So, there was no engine damage? Why is the AEM to blame then....sounds like the flood is to blame, not your mods......

And the only regret I have is that I don't have enough $$ to get more (V-AFC controller, UR pulley, etc.)

I regret putting in the power steering pulley from the UR SS pulley set. Steering control is too loose for hard cornering.

Megan Headers. Ridiculous resonance. Hopefully I'll get them replaced this fall with old CTs, or new Alphawerks/Stone.

Let's just say the dealership didn't know about the CAI. I obviously had to uninstall it before it went to the dealership, or else the CAI itself would've been at fault, regardless of lack of engine damage. We did some serious work to that engine, pretty much pumped all the oil and gas and everything else out, drained the sparkplugs, it was a lot of work. The computers were a mess though... the airbag even deployed in my father's face when he went to put the key in the ignition. When the car even went to the dealership, the heated seat sensor made the seats start smoking. The car was a mess.. it's unbelievable that I still have it.

my RIMS!!!

I love 'em and hate 'em. I love 'em cuz they're so goddamn beautiful, n make me feel like a pimp when i'm driving. I hate 'em cuz they cost 3600 and keep getting fucked up. I don't drive like an idiot, its just that sometimes its hard to avoid potholes when you're on a crowded freeway doing 70.

Real happy with Comptech headers, AEM CAI, Mugan cooling mods, UR crank pulley and Thermoblock spacers. Only the cheap headers before the CT's were a mistake as the resonence was bad news. Love the looks of the SSR comp wheels too.

It's a totally different feeling than throwing in blue light that can flicker to the bass though like yours. Not my thing or the look I am going for, but some would definitely like it. I use mine more as courtesy lights - they can't go one while I'm driving though..only when you lock/unlock and open/close the doors. You gonna take 'em out, ndawood?

Thanks for your tip Yeah will find a resonator and put it on. Does anyone know where i can find that little piece rubber that hangs the muffler? I need a longer ones to extend the gap between muf and the kits.

Kits are melting and paint are bubbling!!!!!

the wheels are killer with my anthracite
the CT exhaust is deep and quiet
the CT icebox is powerful
the Apexi coilovers handles and rides so well and low
the tires are so grippy
the body kit and spioler is awesome

I am going to keep them in there but since they dont make the car any faster its kind of boring. Since I have installed them I think Femi have played around with them when we are downtown a few times and thats about it. I am going to leave them in since it will probably be more work to get rid of them. Plus they are hidden so well no one would ever find them!

HAA HAA Im pretty sure that you wouldnt even be able to find the control box. Sure you can see the lights but no one will know how to turn them on.

I have enough stickers on my car right now. I think one of them might be coming off sometime soon though. As far as performance mods are concerend, I have a few things that I am currently looking into

My one and only mod on my CLS and resulting one and only mod regret is my Infiniti Basslink.

It's decent for what it is but ultimately, I think the same dime could have produced better aftermarket bass with an amp and sub. For the price I paid, I would rather have picked up a used amp and sub in AZ blackmarket.

This summer to a black market forum near you. My Infinit Basslink

I'm pretty happy with all the mods I've done except for the Stone header I put on that resonates profusely and is annoying as hell, I guess I'm going to have to go with samkws and $$ for the CT and take my lumps for going with the cheap stuff
Peace, Jeff

Incorrect. Try to find a post where I tried to pass judgement before the install, or where I'm even really excited?? How could I possibly praise something without trying it out myself first? I clearly stated in past posts that IF these Megan headers work out, then $175 for headers is a steal. I took the gamble and I lost...at the very least, everyone else on this board benefits by me being a guinea pig and testing these headers. Anyway, there were plenty of other people who installed Megan headers before I did and didn't have any problems.
