Any luck with Ebay HID kits?

Has anyone had any luck with Ebay HID kits. They seem to be a great deal but ive heard people say the kits only last a little while but others tell me they work great. Any input would be appreciated.

I think if its like a power seller with 99.9% rep there good.
Too bad you can't review items on eBay...
I guess I'll have to pour through the feedback.

I'm going to try 9006 LED's first.

That's the thing hey, if one goes now, you can just buy a whole new kit and you've got one spare.
Your really ahead in the game!
Some legit ebay sellers have a 1 year warranty too.
I bet some of the ebay kits are similar to the hidextra ones...

^yeah thelastaspec, i just got a water proof ballast hid kit for motorcycles, mounted on the outside, drilled a small hole in the back cover, slipped the wire into the blub (d2r), siliconed it all up, cut off the stock wiring hook up off and hard wired it in, works great. replacements are cheap too, no more acura ballast crap. also get cheap $35 bulbs pairs too, they last long enough for me still going over a year.

pm if u ever need help hooking one of these kits up, iv been meaning to make a DIY, someday.

Yaa! thanks!
I'm planning on doing my fogs in LED 9006 or 35w hid soon.
I drive with them a lot so i want something that's good (functionality) and looks good.

That's a really good idea to use motorcycle ballasts! I never thought of that - especially since it rains 24/7 where I live!

One of the fogs chipped, so I dryed it out, then used hotmelt + weldbond 2000 to plug it.
I still have the little glass chip (came out in a cone, the hole is literally the size of a pin) so someday i might have to replace the glass or gorilla glue the chip from the inside (heat up the silicone seal)...

I would mail you some 168/194 4 bulb white led's if you ever need some them, im ordering in a bulk shipment for me and some of my buddies then selling the rest + some spares.
I think you got the led dept. covered though :P
I could give you the seller if it works out - i think it might be even cheaper than postage .

I'm keeping up my stealth/sleeper car theme - white led's will be nice.

nice ill keep that in mind, thanks. i have LED fogs from VLEDS . com and they don't really put out a whole lot of light. they came out with brighter ones since then i think. they are not too functional yet they look nice, id go with a HID kit on the fogs. keep in mind about 100% water proof ballast, i paid something like $80 for the kit. since they are motorcycle they are tiny, and super slim, you can mount them anywhere with just a few zip ties.

just make sure your comfortable drilling a small hole in the headlight unit, using silicon to seal it, basic wiring skills, and knowledge on how to remove the front bumper and headlights (its easy). the job over all is not very hard at all.

I've gone through 2 sets of HID fogs so I'm done with them. Both sets off ebay. The ballasts just don't seem to last. Maybe the newer slim ballasts are better. I went with 6k led 9006 bulbs from vled and they're perfect. The output is pretty good and I don't really care if it's not as good as HIDs. To me fogs are decoration, not functional.

No I got the ones on clearance since I didn't want to spend too much on bulbs.
The ones I got aren't even listed now but the amber ones are still around.
Mine have 68 smt leds in 6k white. I can post pics if wanted.

its recommended to change both out at the same time to get the same color consistency.

good point.
If their fairly new / it was a mec basalt failure and you re use the bulbs it most likely would be fine.

Or you could install the old kit as a HID licence plate light :P

Yes, no issues as far as bulb or ballasts failing. I did notice on my 2500K bulbs for my yellow HID fogs that there is a slight brown discoloration on the lens just off center from the bulb..almost like a true hot spot or something..perhaps the coating of the bulb is doing that or something...those coated HID bulbs put off more heat I think
