So I was coming back to school from home late last night, and I ran into this modified SVT Focus. Its exhaust sounded like ass. :ar15:

He kept fooling around, so I dropped it in 2nd and just took off on his dumbass. 3rd came real quick, then I shifted into 4th. Now the weird part.

I was revving at about 4300-4500 RPM in 4th, with the pedal to the metal. Then all of a sudden, the rpm dropped to about 3500 then stayed there. Almost like it was stuck. Didn't feel any jerks in the car or anything, but it was weird as hell.

Any thoughts on this??

 

could it be that you're tranny slipped...however went up to 5th gear???

if you were at 4500-4700 RPM at the speed in which you were going, it would sound like 5th gear would be at about 3500 RPM's without being able to pull anymore???

you sure you didn't accidently shift up to fifith??? my best advice is reinact the situation, and see if it happens again, then report back if it happens again...hate to sound like an acura dealer, but it's hard to diagnose whether this is a tranny issue or not.

 

Yeah, that's why I'm not just running off to the dealership.

Nope, I didn't shift into 5th. Because 1) I didn't move my hand, and 2) the indicator remained in 4th.

It kind'a sounds like a VSA issue. Were you loosing traction? Did any lights come on?

BTW - you were racing when you shifted to 4th? That's 105+! Keep it safe, man.

 

Yeah, it was like 10 on Sunday night, no cars except for me, him, and a busted truck behind us. I waited 'til we were clear.

VSA was off. That's what's bugging me.
