236K and still kicking. Pass smog no problem. The ol' TL hasn't had any emissions issues before but my '88 Jeep Cherokee always throws something at me at smog check time so I'm always a bit antsy when the renewals come up.

wouldn't the OBD would throw some kind of error ahead of a smog check if anything were to be wrong that would cause it to fail? I'm pretty sure that's why before we were required to go to STAR stations that the smog techs would pretty much check the equipment (made sure no aftermarket modifications were made) and the OBD smog readiness.

Now, with STAR stations they do a bit more checking but yeah, like you the TL is pretty solid in terms of emissions...our achilles heel is an will always be that transmission.

 

Yep. the TL trans is still chugging along. I know I'll need to address it one day, but that is not today. The Jeep OTOH, predates OBD so no warning of anything wrong until it goes very wrong. Then "old school" diagnostics to find what's wrong and fix.
