Question Another quick tranny question......

Hello all....

I have a little leak under my car!
My tranny is definetly going out. Im scared to take the car into the dealer for a new one, (70,000 miles,) until i make sure this leak is not from the tranny. I dont want them to say that it is my fault and they wont replace it.

Und=fortunetly, I went under the car last night and lt looks like it is coming from the tranny.

Does anyone know if this will effect Acura's decision on replacine my tranny???

Thanks for then help...

Unless you did something to cause it or hit something they will cover it. Bring it in.

Well i would just bring up that the tranny is acting up and you would like them to look at it. Tell them what its doing thats not normal and go from there. They should give you a loaner, but if they dont ask for one. Loaners are a dealer thing, not a acura thing

Ya so I made an appointment for tomorrow. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!! He said they have to evaluate it first to see if it is under warranty. He said if it is I will get a loaner!!
Wish me luck.

OK acura said that after the test drive they couldnt feel anything wrong with the tranny...go figure!!
Although he said after he brought it back to the lot, he saw a little leak in the parking spot from my car. He is keeping it over night and in the morning he will check the leak. He said if it is the tranny, I get a new one!
Is this true??

Oh and he complimented my stereo system!!

yea if its leaking they will need to find out why. Acura mechanics dont open trannies to fix them, they replace them

The dealer doesn't warranty the work. The manufacturer does. Acura/Honda is responsible for the warranty. The car is still an Acura, no matter where you bought it from.

Help! Tranny just went

I have a 03 TLP approx 65k miles, yesterday my tranny died. Seems to be a classic case as described on other posts here, i was diving along tried to apply the gas and the rpm's just shot up, after that all the display indication lit up and i couldn't move. When it cooled of i was able to get home.

I contacted the dealer and they said that the extended warranty doesnt apply to my car based on the VIN#. is that true? I tried Acura custoemr care and same response.

Any suggestions, please help.

Thanks

Id suggest calling acura client services again and be polite and try to get to the person above who your talking too. Tell them that you are fullay aware of the serious problem with these trannies and tell them that you know that even the vin range that you have is effected by failures and you would like to have something worked out. There have been other members that have gotten them covered (hell i had mine replaced for free at 115k miles) also talk to your dealer more and see if you can get them to help out in the negotiations

Ok. Yeah I'm a noob ( ) I bought my 04 TL used from a Chevy dealer (previous owner traded in for a vette).
I noticed some weird vibrations when putting into 5th and 6th gear and over 60mph (i think it's the tranny). Sometimes hard to tell because i thought it was road noise at first. Eventually the vibrations go away. I got an extended warranty with the dealer and they asked me to bring it in. Will they try to fix themselves or just take it to an Acura shop?
don't want a chevy mechanic touching my car.

You might want to check out the 3rd Gen section. Also, note this is for the AT, not the MT. Your extended warranty is probably dealer specific, not sure without looking at it. You most likely will have to take it there.

The 2002 TL-S says 260 hp in the specs, the 05 TL says 258 hp.

This thread should answer your question with regards to the HP rating: https://acurazine.com/forums/dating-relationships-14/what-hell-does-mean-120294/
