Another One (TL) Bites The Dust

Well guys I was in an accident coming back from a ski trip and the score ended up TL-S - 0 , Cement Barrier - 2. I was coming around a sharp bend on the PA turnpike and I lost control, hitting two cement barriers on each side of the road. I was going somewhere in the range of 60-80 mph and my ass end just kicked out side ways, and that was it. The funny part was that the roads were cleaned up really nice after that snow storm the east coast took, but their was a small patch of highway with snow/ ice. After i was finished with the police and waiting for the tow truck there was another accident (red honda civic 04,05,06) spun out right past us around the same bend. Not too much damage to the civic.

THEN later, while i was waiting for my tow truck, their was ANOTHER accident except much WORST. Two 18 wheelers and a van/ car collided about 20 - 40 yards behind the trooper and I And It was bad. Turns out the truck driver was drunk and someone died in that accident. So the highway was shut down and there were a ton of ppl running around, but AZINERS HERES THE CRAZY PART. my tow truck is sitting in front of my car and im patiently waiting. So i ask someone running by my car what happened. He says to me, is this your car? I said yes? "WE CANT FIND YOUR DRIVER". he says "YOUR TOW TRUCK DRIVER IS MIA?" Im confused cause I Never saw him. It turns out my tow driver got hit by the 18 wheeler who was coming to a stop in the side of the road rammed against the cement barrier. The was snow on the side of the road and they simply couldn't dig the guy out fast enough. He must have been putting road flares up and then BOOM theres the 3rd accident.

This whole story brings deep sorrow to me not only because i lost of my TL-S, but more importantly someone innocent person died doing his job. I when I look at my car Instant saddness comes about. All 3 accidents were separte accidnets and were not interelated. Anyways Iv Moved on from the accident I am fine the TL held up nicely in the accident. I am currently shoping a TSX as a new car.

thanks guys, in over 9 years of driving experience is this my 1st accident EVER. I was in denial for a while and when I hit the way wall it seemed like a dream...like did that really just happen! afterwards just sitting the the side of the road while help is the the way, tractor trailers, cars, and trucks are whizzing by me..... anyone of them could have lost control and crushed me. GOD was on my side and for that I am thankful.

Sorry bout your car. Damn a drunk 18 wheeler driver? Was it the drunk drivers rig who hit the tow truck driver? If so his heirs/family will get a big chunk of the $5 mill to $10 mil settlement thats coming

im in the process of buying a 04 TSX the link and link to pics are above. the accord is my wifes car, so it drive in the evenings and weekends. I dont know much about the 3rd accident ill try and find the article online. what i do know (rumors ) is that the one 18 wheeler was drunk and did run over the tow truck driver. There also was another 18 wheeler involved in the accident along with another vehicle. Its my understanding that the 1st big rig caused the accident. Thank god this accident didn't happen 20-30 yards further or else me and this cop would be toast.

I dont quite know yet, it depends on how much the insurance company is going to give me...like I have a choice. More than likely they will give what the car is worth which I estimate to be around 8k.

As my father once said to me, "All that matters is that you are ok, the car can always be replaced, I can't replace you." I've been to a few funerals due to car accidents. Feel blessed that you are fine!

I wouldn't say it's necessarily totaled. It depends on whether there is significant damage behind the bolt on sheet metal parts.

yes the lord was on your side and all the praise goes to him for watching over you during that time

one thing to know a car can be replaced like your about to get a TSX but your body cannot!

so get rid of that TL and get a new and drive safe. you would be surprised how i landed with my TL. i got into a car accident a year ago around this same time and i was going to work and got rear ended and my rear end was totaled but out of it i was fine but i did receive a minor neck strain but nothing serious!

god was watching over me and i got blessed with a TL with 79k at an auction with no problems whatsoever

actually i dont remember hitting the brakes, but did lift my foot from the throtle. there was a good chance is was going appx 80mph and i was coming around this bend and my ass end kicked to the left so i cut the wheel the other way which shot me into the median first then it shot me across the turnpike. I was simply going to fast and the tire life was very minimal at the time. *UPDATE the insurance company gave me $10k for the car. so the door is almost closed on this whip unfortunately.
