Talking Am I just weird?

I have a 2003 TL-S that I bought in January of 2003... as of right now, I have around 16,500 miles on the car. On the first semester that I had the car (Jan. to July) I barely used it, so all those miles accumulated are from July to now. I know my car is still young but every mile that I add up and everytime that I see my odometer increasing nonstop it makes me feel bad, kinda like sad that my car is getting used and old and there is nothing I can do to prevent this. I have to drive to school everyday (around 30 miles round trip) so my car gets miles added real quick, not to mention that I have a gf and basically means that I get to drive around with my car most of the times. Does anyone else feel this way about their car or am I just weird?

I don't feel that way. I consider it as a counter on how much I've enjoyed driving it, I don't see it as making my car "old". If I wanted a car to be displayed, I'd buy a die cast and frame it. The TL is meant to be driven, and get attention from by-standers and other cars on the road while doing so

Ask yourself why you bought the car? As a showpiece or a performance ride.

I agree with Tatewaki, your odo is a guage of how much fun you should have had with the car. If you want 00000 on the odo, leave it in the garage and don't drive it, otherwise-mod and drive.

I know how you feel thsiao. I bought my '03 bag in Aug. of '03 .. and I currently have 7,830 miles on it. I try not to drive it too much..but with driving to work and all..its a bit hard. I also have to drive 60 miles a day to school (30 miles both ways). But the only reason I try not to drive it too much is because I may want to trade in the car in a few months.

Its not that... its just that it makes me feel sad especially after all the effort and extra money spent on my car that its getting old and its inevitable... I guess I'll have to live with it.

u remind me of a guy i know that bought a pimp bmw ... but he does not drive it because it does not want to put miles on it or have dings in it. so instead he drives a beater truck. wtf ... u bought the car for a reason and i assume it was not just to stare at.

I guess either way the car will get old... with the exception that if you drive it the odo increases, but if you never use it and leave it in the garage its getting old anyways. Might as well enjoy the ride like some of you say! Cheers!

I feel bad too, but you gotta get from point A to point B somehow. Do what I do, get two cars and split the miles! my 2002 MDX (picked up june 11, 2002) has less then 15k miles on it.

Anyone who doesn't rack up the miles because they feel bad has their priorities upside down. Not sure about the rest, but I purchased my vehicle SPECIFICALLY to have a comfortable and enjoyable long trips. The "TL" stands for Touring Luxury. Unlike other cars, the purpose of touring sedans is to rack up as much miles as possible!

I would have to agree with stiletto on this thread.

P.S.
Purchase date = April 2001 (2002 TL-S)
Current miles = 60k + and loving every minute of it.

HAHA! Imagine how i feel about racking up mileage on my car...bought it in mid November 2003 and it had 51,500miles on it. And today i just hit over 55,000. I'm just wondering what the previous owner did in one year and put over 50,000?? Guy must of been traveling around North America!! Longest trip i when for now is 400 round trip. Wait till the summer when i'll be traveling. Damn!!...Mine will be almost worthless, lol.

Buddy of mine was driving 120 miles per day a few years ago for work and school. He has always had a Honda, first an Accord that went to 343,000KM before he was T-boned and wrote off the car, next was another Accord - that has been passed to his sister by now but it also has about 250km now, and now he bought a Civic, (not my personal choice) but for the topic it works, now the civic has over 120km and it is a 2001. As long as our trannie will hold out, this car will run forever!!knock-knock (on wood)

I, on the other hand, have had my TL for 6months now and have put a total of 6000km on my car. I have been home with two knee operations, havenn't been working much, but in a month I will be back in the work force, really don't want to rack up too many kms on my car, It's My Baby!!! I don't want her to get older!! just faster!! lol!

Yea i feel the same in the beginning about my 2K3 TL-S. But after a few months, i figured, hey!, these are made to get around and it's making my life easier with it and more enjoyable too! So live it up w/ it. Think optimisically.

all those who feel bad about adding miles need therapy. I'm sorry, but that's just plain weird.

ya I think you're just weird. I personally love driving the TL. I have had it exactly a year (3 days ago), and have almost 30 000km on it. That translates to about 20k miles in one year. I figure that if I take care of it, it will treat me well and last for atleast 10 times the miles I have on her now....

the TL is meant to be driven, so do that!!!
