Hey guys...

I am going to try and tackle replacing my alternator on my 1999 3.2 tl. Before I dig into the engine I was hoping for a few tips/suggestions...

Are there any videos out there that relate to the 99 3.2 tl alternator replacement?

I am thinking the toughest part is going to be dealing with the belt. [IMG]/forums/images/smilies/uhh.gif[/IMG]

The belt is easy. Its on a tensioner. Just release the tension and slide the belt off.

As far as a DIY, i dont think there is one.

 

Very easy Diy to do. 17 or 19 mm nut on the tensioner below and to the left of the alternator. Release belt tension. Two bolts. One thru engine, other thru bracket. It may be a pain to get out. I had to move the cruise control motor out of the way. Thats the hardest part besides getting the belt back on. You may want to phone a friend for that. Other than that, its easy. And remember to disconnect the negative battery cable.

 

whats the best tool to loosen the nutt? im using a 14mm wrench its seems to short to get in torque in to it. Also is the nut suppose to loosen?
