With all this talk about 6000k lights...

I did a search and read a lot about how they look "cool" "tight" "fat" "sweet" etc, but I guess what I'm really wondering is their performace when you're actually driving... seeing things in the dark, ya know, that kinda stuff.

The stock lights are the brightest thing I've ever driven behind, so what makes 6000k better?

Oh... as a sidenote... anybody do HID fog conversion. Is the beam pattern everywhere or is it actually useable???

Thanks!

The 6000K will NOT be brighter than the stock HIDs on the road cause it is more of a bluish/purplish color while the stock HIDs are more whitish. But the 6000K does look brighter to the eyes. It is more for looks than anything else.

A few members on this board have done the 6000k fog conversion, its very nice, makes the stock HID's look like halogen yellows.

well i personally thing that the higher color temperature lets the light bounce off the sign a lil better, but the over all visibility is slightly dimmer...i would get it cus it just look damn hot

Question Am I dreaming?

A couple of days coming down the local Interstate I saw what look like BLUE HID's. Usually when you see a car with HID's (TL,3-series,Audi's,Mercedes) they appear blue at first inspection but as they come closer you see the true white color. I saw a 2002 maxima with what was obviously replacement HID's as well a Audi TT. Both headlights were BLUE without any color change to white. Is there a such thing as 8000k bulbs (according to the HID tempreture scale those would give off blue light) or are they just 4200k,6000k with colored glass?

My cousin has a 2002 Maxima SE, I can tell the difference beween the stock HID's and The BLUE! replacements I saw on the Maxima on the Highway

I've seen 8000K kits floating around on the net (ebay, groupbuycenter). Supposedly, they are workign on a 10000K kit!!! Anyways, to answer the initial question, the higher the Kelvin temperature doesn't make it brighter. Actually, the higher the Kelvin number, the lower the lumen output of the bulb is, making it dimmer. But with the 6000K it looks brighter because it's more pleasing to the eye.
