Cool Alarm and tint installed!

Dropped off my car this morning to get my security system and window tinting installed. Decided on Llumar (titanium?) 50% on the front windows and 20% on the rear and back windows. All I can say is, "WOW!" My car looks 100% better!

Tdoh, your bro and his crew are some damn good window tinting Mofos! (Ahem, and who's that young Spanish-looking cutie?) Anyway, I should have taken before and after pics but I didn't think about it.

And the car alarm kicks ass, too. I have a Clifford in my Accord with most of the bells and whistles available at the time (6 years ago) -- but this new alarm is sweet! Especially the auto-start and two-way pager features! No more getting into a too hot or too cold car for me! Just auto-start that baby and let the climate-control do its thang before I get in!

Anyone in Northern Cali thinking about tint or alarm systems should take a look at Eclipse. They do a damn good job! Two thumbs-up from me.

I've been thinking about an aftermarket alarm for some time now but I would like to know what I could get that only uses the stock remote fob. The main things that are stopping me is that I dont want another thing hanging from my keychain, and also the economics behind installing one. In other words...how much do they cost? I would like to know whats the cheapest possible route I could go that still uses the factory remote but still have shock sensors for those fools that think its ok to tap my bumper when parallel parking.

you don't want to switch out the stock remote for an aftermarket one? i think you can look up www.crutchfield.com to see if they have add-ons alarms (i remember reading about them from the catalog), or you can get a hornet/dei 700t system.

The Hornet 700 is the excat same as our factory ones. I think thats mainly for people with keyless entry but thats it!

Vincent--my bro will be pleased to hear how happy you are with the tint and alarm! That'll probably be the best news he'll hear for a while--his shop got broken into this past Sunday.

Did he install the alarm so that the factory alarm/key fob still works or did he bypass or disable it entirely? Remember, you're still my guinea pig, and I expect a long-term report from you!!!

Tony

P.S.: I think that the Spanish cutie is actually Asian (or perhaps mixed?), as a poster on this board noted some time ago.

You may want to be a little more patient when you get there--as I noted earlier in this thread, my bro's shop got broken into and he's probably still dealing with the issues arising from it...

Other than that, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the alarm install.

where is this window tinting shop?
somewhere in the bay area?
I am thinking about getting my TL-S with Navi tinted too
this would not break the GPS/radio antenna in the rear window right?
How much does it cost? Thank!

Unhappy What?

Tdoh: Damn, sorry to hear about your bro's store. Crap like that just pisses me off. I hope he's able to open up without too much hassle.

I spoke with Bob on Saturday and he's very cool -- even gave me a price break for paying with cash (the green stuff!). Then he suggested some brighter lights for my interior. Once he showed me the difference I had him change out all of my interior lights (the trunk too). Ahh, looks much better!

As for my alarm, he did not disable the stock one -- although I don't think I can use it anymore (it causes the new one to go off). So I've removed the old key-fob from my key chain. The new fob has more features anyway.

As for the girl... I didn't get a real good look (I was walking by and she was just finishing up my car (and I didn't want to get caught staring. ), besides, one of the guys was explaining how my alarm worked. Asian, Latin -- it's all good!

AZN G RYDE: Good luck with your alarm install. I've never heard of that brand. Is there a web site where we can check it out?

alient: The shop is located in the Sacramento area -- nextdoor to Carmichael Honda. And my Navi's working just fine! Cost was about $275.00

I know what you mean--from a financial standpoint I probably couldn't justify shelling out that much money for an alarm at this point in time. OTOH--I do have the CompuStar in my Tahoe; the only reason that it's there is because my bro gave it to me (and did the install, too) as a Christmas present.

Vincent--weren't you looking at the stuff in my bro's display cases?? Anyways, he carries the Prestige line; it has many of the features that the CompuStar has, just not the really nice stuff like two-way page, etc. Basically what it comes down to is different alarm packages at different price levels based on what a customer wants and what he's willing to pay for. Not many people are willing to shell out big bucks like you can!

Also, you don't have to stare at her--just give her compliments about how good a tint job she did on your car. After doing a few TL-Ss (including mine, which will need to be redone due to scratch on rear window--not her fault, bad blade) she should be able to do a perfect job on yours...

Wink You're Too Funny!

Ahahaha... you make me laugh! This board is full of people spending their hard-earned cash on mods! I'm just making up for lost time!

Well, I plan to tell her how good a tint job she did when I go in to have my sunroof/moonroof tinted a little darker. I want to be able to see my nav screen better with the "inner roof" open and the sunroof closed.

Oh, and thanks for being the guinea pig! (heh, heh, heh)
