Alarm Question and Confusion.. need experts! Viper vs Clifford!!
Ok guys, its been a while since I posted here but I'm in a dillema of which alarm to get. I narrowed it down to the Viper 791xv and Clifford Matrix 3.5. The price difference is the Clifford is $75 more. Now I know the main diff is the blue vs. carbon fiber remotes, but what else? Range? Expandability? Quality? (They are both made by DEI). I like the Carbon Fiber remote, so is it better that I just get the Viper 791 and purchase another carbon fiber remote and sell the blue LCD one on ebay?
Help me please!!

Oh and also, the only things I want to add into the alarm are the Window Roll Ups, Sunroof One Touch, Glass Sensor, Extra siren w/ battery backup, and pin switches. Hopefully the viper 791 will accomodate this w/ no problem.
Now if anyone is interested, a couple of us TL's in NY area are doing it in Long Island and I've managed to get a decent price, well the cheapest I found atleast.
791 Viper Remote Start Installed: $325
Clifford Matrix 3.5 Remote Start Installed: $400
Window Modules auto up and down + Install (2x530T's) $100
Let me knwo if you think this is good pricing.

791 and 3.5 are the same alarm. I think Clifford has the nice LED indicator. $325 is a good price. I think I paid 375 for it. Dont forget you need the module for the remote start. Maybe that will boost it up to 375.

It is the alarm + installation for those prices... this place is in LI... trying to find some other prices, but I want to know the difference between the two. I heard that there are subtle differences between the two.

all i have to say is when shopping for an alarm system, look for shops that takes time and install them well, and not those shops where installer get paid by the car that they do. because all they care about is get your car out as soon as they can and use your car to move product by selling at a lower price, those people don't care about protecting your car.
a good install example, mines:
a bad install example: (sorry ArN 2000 tl, it bothers me someone did this to your car)
the alarm's purpose is to protect it from someone stealing, but if all the wires are the there for anyone to look up and see, is not doing its job, a good alarm is where all or most wires are hidden especially the unit, best is if no one could tell that is there.
my alarm could do the following, giving you guys idea on what it can do, most name brands could do these features, like i said before brand doesn't matter much. install is.....
hood protection
doors protection
trunk protection
ignition protection
starter kill
dual stage impact sensor
dual stage radar sensor
piezo siren
honk horn (warning)
main siren hidden (actually everything)
keyless entry
trunk release
memory seats
headlights activiation
remote start
domelight survilance
bright leds on headlights and taillights plus stock location

Ok... I'm going to go there tommorow to speak to the guy. I need to know what people what additional things people want to put in their cars.. so I can get an idea. And from what I've spoken to this guy he seems very reputable. Installer own an Acura Integra GSR i believe so has some knowledge of Acura's.
This is what I'm planning on getting done on my TL..
Clifford 3.5 Matrix Alarm w/ Remote Start
4 Windows One Touch
Battery Back up Siren
Glass Sensor Shock
Pin Switches under the hood for HID theft detterant.
I will also price this out with the Viper as well for those who want to go that route. If anyone else wants other things post up now.

Also one more price correction up above, the DEI 530 are 100 per 2 windows so 200 for all 4, but I'm going to try to get a package deal so hang tight. And when the prices are final, people interested will have one week to go and drop off a $100 deposit to get in on this deal.

Alright, I got prices, I'll try to put them up in a little, maybe in a different thread. This guy is doing these prices only to get himself some customers and some clientale, and I saw the shop, its not shady, it looks legit, and the guys are very knowledgeable. Plus I told them its for guys on the forum who are meticulous about their cars and he completely understands.
I also showed that picture of ARN's car bad installation and he said he's seen worse, and his installation will look nothing close to that. It will be better than both those pictures we saw. He also said, he would Fuk around with our cars, since if he does a bad job, his reputation will be shot. I'm sure you guys will like the prices.

Hey Everyone. I've been the one getting the prices here in Long Island. Bxscig, myself and NYDesi80 were all looking into the same alarm.. and I've priced it out at 4 different audio/alarm places here in Long Island. The best price I've gotten was $600.
This $600 includes the Clifford Matrix 3.5, 2 530T modules for both front and rear window rollup/down, as well as installation. I called up Main Street Stereo in Sayville, and they don't even carry the Clifford (They recommended the Viper 791). I also called SoundTrax in Centereach (same deal, no Clifford, but recommended the same Viper). I called Savage Autosports in Medford, and they wanted $900 for the Clifford Matrix and the 530T's. That price was outrageous.
The place I got the price of the $600 is from a reputable place in Long Island that I've had my auto start put in from - plus they've been around for a long time. I had the auto start put in 2 years ago, so it's basically going to be a waste, since the Clifford Matrix has the autostart, so I will remove the old one.
If there is anyone else interested, please let me know. If we bring him a $hit load of cars, who knows what he will throw in.
Now that $600 did not include the glass sensor or backup battery/siren. I'm sure that's extra.. but one thing at a time.
Please let me know if anyone else is interested. Raj (NYDesi80) and I are still pricing it out at more shops here in Long Island and in Queens.
Hit me up w/a PM if interested. Thanks.

I can guarantee you pricing will be good once I confirm it with the owner tommorow. Then, I will have NYDesi80, ItlMuslNYC, Bxscig, just double check with more stores to see if the price can be beat, but I would doubt it. I should have pricing hopefully tommorow.
In the meantime guys, please post this in other forums, and see to get more people. The more the cheaper obviously. Maybe even in the 3rd Gen forum.
