After long vigorous hours... im Blacked out.

i know you've seen plenty of other peoples blacked out headlights on here, but i thought i would share mines.

after packs and packs of cigarettes, inhaling hours of paint fumes and blowing black out of my nose, freezing my ass off in single digit degrees, one mod off the check list!
the paint didnt come out right, had to paint over again, breaking the headlight aprt with a heat gun was a Pain in the ass... took me quite a while to do this, im pretty satisfied with the job, though i have 2 small gaps on the side of each headlight, can anyone help me out with that?
btw i used the BBQ paint everyone suggested, and i also clearcoated it, because it looked pretty dull before.

pics:

can anyone help me out here?

i bought hyperwhites for my blinker and i guess the black housing makes it look greenish, and it looks like i have 4 diff colored lights on my front end, any suggestions?

also here is my gap...

all i need now is my CAI, rims and exhaust!
well, sorry for the massive amount of pics, trigger happy.

i hope i sealed it properly.. lol <crosses fingers> though it did rain all night and i dont see any moisture inside, which should be a sign of relief..
as far as the time goes.... it actually took me two nights, first night i blacked out an extra headlight i bought, and yesterday, took me most of the day though i went out during the drying process.. though other people here have done it much quicker, maybe im just slow.

Since you have a black car, paint the chrome grille black too, but leave the emblem as is. Now that would look nice!

yea i wanted to do that, like the a-spec.. but im not sure how to take the top part off thats connected to the hood.
also, im assuming i cant use the paint ive been using for my headlights as they do not match my paint very well and chips easy, is there anywhere i can buy factory paint for a DIY? thanks

You can buy OEM matching paint in a spray can. Autozone or Pep Boys might have them. Just get your paint code and check em out.

I plan on doing this mod too whenever I get my TL-S Aegean Blue. She's out there somewhere.

I photoshopped your car. Isn't she beautiful?

Poping mine in tonight. Will post completed photos tonight. I think I will be the first anth. TL to have cleared blacked out headlights.
XxBoBoXx I want to know the info as well regarding your setup and bulb specs. I need to goto pep boys to get the APC chrome/amber bulb. I really just want a clear bulb that lights up amber.

The white type s with the black headlights is somewhere in the photos section, gives it a real nice JDM look.

it doesnt take a day to know if urs are fogging, also if u see it fogging u better take them off and seal them again because if its on the car long enough u will regret it later.

The test I used was turning the shower really hot and letting the room steam up, then I put the headlights under the water and in the steam for a couple minutes. They passed the test perfectly......that was a couple weeks ago. Now one of the headlights is fogged up. Im taking it out tomorrow. Good luck.

They were like 3 or 4 bux, after I got them I thought to myself that they might be the exact same bulb that is in there already.

if the gap ur referring to is between the headlight and the body of the car, i have that same gap on my drivers side. Me and darkfox both cleared our lights, and we both have the same gap between the light and the body of the car on the drivers side.

if you try moving that metal piece that you stick the two pieces into, play around with it and the gap will get a lil tighter, me and my cousin tried and the gap was smalelr than beforehand... but i still have a gap on each side. =(

Hey Mike, your headlights look great! Good job!

If your lights didn't fog up from the rain overnight it shouldn't be an immediate worry. When you black out your headlights you should always leave 24 hours of dryness so the paint could dry because it's not like just clearing the headlight but you should be okay if you didn't get condensation from that night of rain.

By the way:
Reflector (parking) bulbs are 194
Blinker bulbs are 1157
