Anyone purchased their 2003 TL-S after January of 2003? If so, have you guys experienced any tranny problems? I got mine around the end of January 2003 and kinda worried, although the service guy told me that my tranny has the 2 updates from the previous TLs, therefore the warranty dropped to 50,000 miles or 5 years.

 

Bought mine new in August 2003, no problems with the Tranny to report.

 

I thought it went by VIN#.
Not sure how accurate this is:

would buying an 03 ype-s wih vin ....A026..... be far enough into he build, or should I hold off for a later build vin #?

 

Dude dont worry the tranny will fail no matter wat year, trim, vin u buy.... if ur that worried the TL ain't for u. LOL,,,thats the honest truth of it. Honda/Acura is full of schiit when they say they fixed the trannies. If thas the caase people who've had them replaced shouldn't have had subsequent tranny failures cuz after all they are putting the so called fixed trannies into these cars right?

 

Purchased my '03 TL-S back in Aug. of '03
Build Date: 7/03
Mileage: 7,183miles (8 months)

.. no tranny problems yet. *Knocks on wood*

 

Bought my new 03 TLS on January 20, 2003......im out of bad tranny vins, but it doesnt really gaurentee that yoru tranny won't go out....as of now i have 11,5xx miles and no problems yet

 

car I'm looking at is an 03, with only 8 thousand miles on it. I wonder why dude got rid of it so quickly

 

I got my '03 TL-S in May 2003. The build date date was Mar-03. With respect to the build date, anything Feb-03 and after should have all the lastest updates known.

Still worried my tranny will die on me one day though. Hope Acura can prove me wrong. Anyone that has a Build Date of Feb-03 or later please post it. I will be demanding the extended tranny warranty if my tranny goes out.

 

how can you tell thru the vin # if your car was built after february?

 

On the driver side there is a sticker of where the Engine and Tranny are built. In one of the corners, I think the upper right there is a month/year imprinted on it. Mine had 03/03 that will determine the build month.
