After changing my front brakes...
...I'm getting a sort of groaning noise when braking from 60-40 km/h (37-25 mph). I did the install correctly, greased up the back of the pads (it's not squealing at all), and bedded the pads in properly (or as best I could).
I used Mountain rotors and Hawk HPS pads. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen, or can give any advice/help?
Thanks!

how many miles are you at on them? did you use the Hawk break in procedure? are they drilled or slotted?
i have drill/slots and they make a wurring noise when i brake hard at like 50+mph. but that because of the type of rotor i have.

No real mileage on them - less than 300 kms. I followed the break-in procedure for the pads too.
As for greasing, I did the caliper bolt ends, but not the sleeves or caliper bracket bolt ends. I didn't even see any sleeves, but I guess I just didn't pull them out.
Could this be from over torquing the bolts?

when you take out the caliper bolts, there is that threaded section with the rubber boot, if you slip the boot off the end, u can take out the pin. grease these pins so the slide smooth. then smooth the boot back on. use caliper grease only.
80 foot lbs is the correct torque for wheel lugs
the caliper bracket is 80 ft lbs
the caliper bolts to bracket are about 40- check your model on kragen.com
The slider railss are on the bracket at the top and bottem of where the caliper fits in
The caliper moves back and forth on these when brakes on
The top end of the caliper bolts have no threads- that part gets grease as there is movement side to side when brakes are applied
The tab ends of the pads also have a litle motion so they get a dab
You dont grease the fully threaded bolts that hold the bracket to the car- just the ones that hold the caliper itself.
Depending on your rotors and pads combo- it can be 1000kms to really get the bedded
What combo are you running- that will help us help you, between the members here- we are runnng everything.

I just read first post again
The Hawk HPS has its own shim built in, so you should have tossed the old pads and shims- if you put shims on- its too tight a fit
I have Hawk HPS and you have to get them hot hot hot to bed them
The rotors may need some heat and cool cycles to temper/heat treat them before you can do the real bed in process
They do make a groan when wet after washing- just till a few seconds of heat in them and then no noises
Where did you find Mountain rotors- who makes them how $$
slotted vents on side? drilled thru? bare blank face?
