Advice....

Alright guys, I need a little advice from the group. I have an '02 TL-P w/ 80,000 mi on it, well maintained, excellent cond, mods are below in my sig. I found a guy with an '03 CLS6 with 111,000 mi on it. Test drove it, it runs good so far as I can see. A few cosmetic, interior issues like a loose panel and such, but mechanically, pretty damn strong. I tried to do a straight up trade with this guy, no dice. This was with the understanding that I would pull everything off my TL and put it back to bare-bones. He wants my TL plus an extra $1500 on top of that. Might be able to talk him down a little. Now I know that the CLS6 is a coveted item among acura enthusiasts, but do you guys think thats a fair deal?

Being its a year newer and its the s-6, I'd say that is probably pretty fair.

6spd is worth the mileage difference and $1500 IMO.

Thanx for the replies guys. While we're on this, who knows which of those mods would swap? I know the headers, fuel pump, and icebox obviously would. What about the rest?

Pulleys.

I think the MT and AT SC's are different. Not positive though. But maybe there's a way to make yours work with the 6spd.

also the fact that you are trying to go from a TL-P, and not even a TL-S, so 1500, seems acceptable, as long as both cars are in compareable condition, minus the mileage

also the headers may not swap, depending on the brand and such (if it has that special bend in it or not)

Cool. Yeah headers are XS Power with the special 6MT jog in it. My main concern is the S/C. I would hate to switch, and then find out later that the S/C is now useless to me.

about the s/c i think that should be fine, biggest issue would be if going from say a manual to an auto, since the auto is physically larger

also i think you might need a couple of additional parts for the s/c, mainly just fittings and such, but should be minimal (even then i am not totally sure), and the biggest hassle will proably be aquireing (sp?) them

as rajca said maybe a different elbow might be required, which is kinda what i meant by fittings

and tuning wise, be a good time to go with an AEM FIC to actually get it properly tuned

so depending on if you did indeed start with the auto tranny kit, only thing additional for it for the manual kit is a

.........10x40 washerbolt
2x .....1/4 thick washers
.........10mm lock nuts

so the auto kit actually includes more parts and that is the TCS adapter kit, plus a couple of additional hoses for the TCS tb coolant lines, plus a modified fan shrould, other then those parts listed above they are the exact same kit

also if you did happen to live in cali, the CARB sticker is the exact same part number
also the install instuction sheets are different too, but link is provided above

Good thinking friesm. Thanx. Your list is right on, with the exception of the elbow. That list you provided was for TL-S Auto. I'm TL-P Auto, which has blower elbow part # 355-102F (from accord kit). CLS6 has 355-103F.

did not know what kit you had started with , and i knew the P part, but as said kinda hard to know what kit you have

so then i guess you need the elbow, and a new bolt, washer and a couple of washers

lol, well Barry, if I did go through with this CLS6, and for some reason the blower wouldn't work on it, you'd be getting first dibs my friend. As for the tune, I'm gonna hold off until I figure out what I'm doin here, cuz it'd be pointless to tune a car I'm not keeping. I just realized tho, my boomslang def wouldn't work on a CLS6. That sux, just bought it.

Might be that is just need those dimples on the copper ring. There was a service bulletin on that issue.

And +1 on pics!

yes cruise works. and yes the sig is old, lol. gonna change that soon.

and yes, i was underdriving it , but i counteracted that by installing the HBP. so, based on the gauge, it was right around where it would of been with both stock pulleys installed.

i just wrapped up the total uninstall of the mods from the TL. she's bare bones again. i give her to the dealer tomorrow. its kinda sad really. as excited as i am about the CL, i can't help but be suffering from a little seperation anxiety.
