Adjusted HP for 2003 Acura TL Type-S

This should be an easy question (and I probably missed it on some FAQ thread, so if I did, I apologize in advance for the question).

Using the old method for measuring horsepower, the 2003 Acura TL Type-S was originally spec'd at 260 bhp.

What is the adjusted spec based on the newer method of measuring horsepower?

The stated HP is still correct for those years IIRC.
The newer TL got its HP re-adjusted because it entered in the same but modified HP rating.

Keep in mind that when the dealerships replaces failed trannies, they also replace the PCM unit with one that has factory revised software.

The revised software will reduce engine power during gear shifts, in order to baby the rebuilt trannies, thereby preventing them from crapping out again.

So the newer PCM might affect the actual output wheel hp of the cars that have the dead tranny replaced.

It doesnt reduce any power under wot. HP was un changed. Only thing it did was shorten up the shift time to allow less slippage which in turns reduces heat in the clutches

Thanks all... For some reason, I thought I had heard that the 260bhp was measured using a different method than later model cars...

Good to hear that the stated horsepower specification is accurate...

^ Obviously that's to the Crank only so the Real WHP is much much lower.
My last Dyno put me on 247-250whp and that's after all my mods :S
Before my Mods (STOCK) I was hovering around 220whp ish.

300whp our megamod is riding with must be INSANE.

Does shortened shift time equate to faster acceleration ?

I'm unsure but as far as I'm concerned in the highly scienctifical world of the butt dyno my car was much faster before the rebuilt transmission. Course it was also newer at the time...

Yes, but not something you would notice. It just kept the flare up between shifts a little lower in attempts to reduce friction/heat/wear

Mine was faster at the drag strip after all my replacements than the original

Someone stole my "Type-S" emblem a few years ago, and I have been living with 35 less horsepower every since...
