I just purchased v2.11B a few weeks ago, so it seems to be available. Note: Didn't like the new lady's voice compared with the prior rev

I heard it was suspended because of the software problems. It is supposed to be released as 2.11c late January.

Got mine 3 weeks ago. Some more detail in on screen graphics. The gas stations are now by Emblem or logo instead of just a symbol of a pump. SO you know if its BP or Mobil etc. I hate the new voice sounds like a man trying to be a girl but hey as long as its more accurate with places.

Yes, it was pulled due to a software bug that affects some users who had trouble recalling addresses previously stored in the Personal Address List for User 2. Not everyone was affected but until they could figure out the problem they pulled the disc. The fixed disc will be 2.11c and will contain the exact same data as 2.11b. In other words, this "newest" version is only a bug fix for the 2.11b version released briefly in November. The good news is coverage on the 2.11b disc really does appear to be about 95% of the roads in the lower 48 states.

Word is, they will be sending out everyone who already purchased 2.11B a patch disc free of charge. You will put in the patch disc to install the software fix (one-time deal) and then re-insert the 2.11B for everyday use of the navi since the database and software is the same. Some were hoping they would get a full 2.11c version (and then could turn around and sell their 2.11B version), but to avoid this Acura is going to ship the patch disc instead.

How much new?

I have the original disc that came with my 2000 TL... version 1.09 it says. I guess going to 2.11 would be quite the update then?

Very much so. You'll find about 95% of the country mapped in one form or another.

Question Why?!?!

I know this is really getting into the minutia of the navi system, but does anyone know if the logic that the navi uses has improved any when it comes to it telling you to stay on a main road vs taking an exit ramp? For example, I've noticed that in some instances, if it wants me to continue down the road I'm traveling it on, it will say "Stay on XYZ road" as I pass by exit ramps and such (which, in my mind, is what it should say most of the time). On the same road, but farther down, it will say "Take next exit on the Left" - which is another way of saying keep going straight. And finally, it will every once in a while say "Exit freeway on the left" - again, the ramp to get off the road (if you wanted to exit) is on the right – so continue on going straight. Just to clarify, in all of these situations, the road is 6 lanes and it’s not splitting or anything. For those of you who live in Northern VA and want to see what I’m talking about, take a drive up and down 7100 – it says something different at each ramp you come to. Again, it’s no big deal – it’s just something I noticed and am wondering if they did anything about it.

When is this update scheduled for? I have noticed processing times are slower and sometimes it has the title for destinations I already arrived at staying on the screen. Seems like they have a few bugs to fix.

hmm

Sounds like I should get an update... Is it like yahoo maps filed in or major road filled in for 95% of the area? I'm in Mass and the current DVD I have has like nothing outside 495.

I live in Western MA and the entire state is fully mapped (or at least 99%). That includes even small dirt roads in some of the very rural towns of Franklin & Berkshire Counties. Now most of those roads are considered "unverified" data (do a search on this site of unnverified if you don't know the difference), but they are still mapped and you can plot routes using them and to destinations on them.

did anyone call the acura navi people and ask them what we do with the 2.11 dvd if we already received it. i notied the delay is till late feb and i would guess this means they are having major problems with it and i would not like to have a dvd which have problems. i did drive across country with the dvd. it worked fine except that the old one spoke more. for example the new one says " stay on parkway", the old one i had said " stay on sprain parkway" no biggie thou.

so did anyone inquire what to do with the one already ordered?

Keep using it. It only affects the saving of addresses in certain circumstances under User 2. If you haven't had a problem with it yet then don't worry about it. Once the patch disc is available they will send you it free of charge.
