Acura 2002 Ballast light problems.
So this is my third or so ballast that I have bought, and they have been giving out on me after the first few weeks. I bought my latest one 2 weeks ago from acuraexpressparts as well as the lightbulb.. And it just gave out on me.. Can someone please tell me what I can do to fix this problem.. Can't afford to spend money on a ballast anymore..

are you buying used ballast and expect them to work? its the same crap that failed!
you probably have the same issue as most of us when water gets in the housing and drips onto ballast- killing it
go buy an aftermarket kit with all new parts for both sides- from 60 bucks to 200 depending on seller
try HID Kits | Conversion Kits | Xenon Headlights | HIDeXtra you want the kit stated for our car on their site, with the standard 35 watt ballast and 5000K color bulbs
a few hours of your time to install everything and have awesome lights

I have been trying to get a better understanding of how these these HID's work. I got a 2000 TL and my passenger light just went out. My question is, do I buy just the bulb or do I buy the entire kit. When I checked with the local auto parts store, they were talking $80 for a bulb. Wow. What are my options

read my post again for a good source of parts, click the underlined part for link
Get the kit which will replace all the old HID parts including BOTH bulbs, ballast and ignitor/invertor
THATS what you need to solve the problem!!!
If it were 7 years ago and a bulb got a pink tint at startup - I would say replace the bulbs based on age death
BUT its now 10+ years on this setup, and we have this problem of moisture- it drips onto ballast and gets inside of it- rotting its electrical circuit
the new parts are waterproof and way better technology
Join the 2000s and install the right parts
parts stores charge big $$ for the bulbs, while a wholesale importer of the parts kit has the entire system for same price

Too bad I didn't already have the kit to install today, as the weather is 71 degrees today. Will be in the 30's next week.

they ship from the west coast
you will need to go to parts store for a small box of 14/16 gauge female waterproof spade connectors-
kit has males installed on ballast power leads= you cut the oe ballast out and install new!
some shrink wrap cylinder tape is a good plan too

I should already have the spade connectors and shrink wrap in the garage, but I'll double check this weekend. Thanks!

^^^There are no aftermarket HID Ballast that will go into the stock position. The only ballast that will fit there is OEM and OEM only.
Everything else is just a RETROFIT Kit which means it will replace the Stock Igniter and Ballast not that will fit in the same place though.

put the parts on the bench, clip connectors together - they only fit one place each!
see how it looks finished- then figure out which wire to run where and when
See good thread in diy section or main thread area- and probs and fixes may have a few too
one titled hidextra install- clean, should help
with this a common prob, scrolling thru the titles list should yield results faster than search will~
