Unhappy ABS pump noise?

ABS pump noise after starting and putting car in to gear. I have a 2002 TL Type S with 37k miles. I have been hearing a noise for the last few thousand miles after I start the car and put it in to gear and begin to move. The local dealer said this was the ABS pump and normal. The noise is getting louder (sounds like a groan) and now occurs twice within the first 100 feet of moving the car. Once initially- and once after a few seconds. I have been in other TL's that did not make this sound- I am wondering if the ABS pump (if that is what is really making this noise) is starting to fail.

i would bring it back to the dealer and tell them that that sound ISNT normal, you never had it before and you want it looked at/fixed

I have this also. Trust me man, don't waste your time on going to the dealer, cause it's totally normal. All the TL's will do it, and it's not just yours that has this. People have concluded that it's the ABS doing a self test. Whatever, even if you didn't notice it before, and are now noticing it, it's totally normal. Don't bother wasting a day with your car in the shop for them to come back and say there is no problem. Just drive the car, and enjoy it.

take care.

Yep, I'd agree ... my 2003 TLS does the same thing too. In fact I did not notice it until I read about some one having your 'issue' on this forum. It's the ABS and it's normal.

Yeah - it will do it twice - even if you're backing up. It's normal.

Not to beat a dead horse, but it is 100% normal. I didn't remember hearing it for the first year or so that I had my '02 TL-S, either, but it's 100% fine.

completely normal.. hondas and acuras both do this, although not all models do.. shifting can cause almost a cranking noise underneath as well, and again, no matter how bad it sounds, it really is supposed to sound that way.. absolutely nothing wrong with your car.. i had an 89' accord that did the same thing, i had it for 80,000 miles, with 189,000 miles on it finally.. never had any problem with it.. just a noise!
