about to get my headers one last question

ok i finally decided to give up eating for 4 weeks to pay for my headers. acura of riverside is asking 200 for install which is bout average.

they are asking for 1200 for headers but on this site and comptechusa.com its about 1100... my question is

should i buy it from the website and bring it down to dealer or buy it from acura of riverside, ca? the only reason would be if anything went wrong with install, it would be "safer" if the parts were from their dealership.. but what do u guys think?

also... do i need anything else? like the stainless steel header stud kits ? i was reading something about new header gaskets.. where can i get those and how much? the stud kit it like 150 but is it really needed?

thanks

p.s. whats the sound of the engine with just the headers compared to the sound with just the exhaust? will i get a throaty noise with just the headers?

The headers should come with everything that you need for installation.

Your best bet is to have a dealer that is cool with aftermarket stuff like Comptech's to install it for you.

As far as the noise, I used to have the CAI first. Then when I added the headers, I still can hear the CAI. I really don't know if the headers make any noise since all I ever hear is my CAI.

Thumbs up

Get the headers here and take 'em to the dealer. The dealer doesn't care where you get the stuff and you'll save some money!

P.S. I'm moving to Riverside at the end of August (in Sacramento now)... Do you live there or do you only get your car serviced in Rivercity?

Also, is Acura of Riverside a pretty good place to get my TL-S serviced? I'll need to find another good one!

Ditto, plus that $1200 may not even include tax. Buy it here, save some $$$, and maybe then you only have to give up eating for 3 weeks instead. :p

There's a group buy on the CL board (DeanblueSI) where you can get headers for $1075 shipped!! Can't beat that price!!

On and BTW....$200 isn't bad for the install.

Don't need the SS stud kit. Purely cosmetic.

The dealer should order you a new set of header gaskets. They're cheap. Maybe $20 or so.

vperkins...
acura of riverside aint bad, they got a good aftermarket shop and install all the comptech parts so they are into that whole modification thing.

service was pretty good, just that the service guy, vince, was kinda shady to me when i tried to ask him to hook me up with a little lower price on the install for headers .. other than that they are pretty good

thanks for the info everyone

That's a good price for the install and you won't hear much of a difference in sound.

But you'll feel the surge in power once past 5k rpms.

Thanks for the reply! Well maybe since he and I have the same name he'll cut me a little more slack! That's good to know that they're used to aftermarket parts -- my dealer up here has installed all of mine and I don't want any problems if/when I take my car in!

Hopefully the CL/TL owners down your way get together every so often. I know the Sacto TL/CLs get together almost every 3 weeks or so.

Later,

V.
