You keep saying "~$30,400" -- how much exactly did they offer as their price? I don't want to go in with my guns ablazing, ready to sign at that price when I realize that they really offered you $30,355 or something.

What about w/o navigation? Just deduct $2k from the price?

Hey guys screw that!! You are doing them a favor by doing business with them. Tell them they should be giving you a fair and good price. Its not up to you guys to come with a price. Its up to you guys to say yes or no!! Those sales people are trippin. You guys need to have the "eye of the tiger" LOL
I'm telling you, talk to Raquel Lopez at Mark Harvey Acura and tell her Jay sent you. Ask her to give a good price. Then negotiate it down a little.

Yep, graduating on Sunday from Cal's Haas School of Business. I still have two finals to "study" for, even though I really don't need these classes.

Paying it off in three years would mean close to $1k in monthly payments. It's not really as much a "bomb-ass" job as careful budgeting and not spending money when I don't have to..heh

Just dont go over invoice! And you'll be fine. At the same time to hagle and get bogged down over a couple hundred dollars. If they are willing to be reasonalbe so should you. If you think about it 1-2hundred dollars is really nothing when looking at the whole picture.

What was your final price? I'd like to use that as a benchmark so if Raquel screws us we'll know. :P

No, you're right ... but it is bragging rights. "neener neener! I got my car for $150 less than you!"

Well i havent talked to Oakland acura and i dont plan on talking to them after what you said, but i think David is a good person, but all they want is to get your sale. I'm not too sure where im gonna get the car yet or when, most likely next month. Someone from Sunnyvale named KB left me a voicemail and said that he wants my sale and he will beat the price of $30,400 and give me some more discount. what do you think about this?

I paid 30,500 w/o destination! That was my only mistake. I could have shaved off maybe another 200 bucks. But like I said I was no going to argue for another15 min to get 20 bucks off.
Plus, shes the internet fleet sales manager. Shes hella nice.

sojah: I'm thinking about buying the car next month too, sometime in June when things settle down from my graduation, etc. (I also want to take up Cadillac's offer of driving the CTS for 24 hours)

If this KB fella can beat your $30,400, take him up on it. See how much lower he's willing to go. If it gets even lower, would you actually buy NOW versus in a month or so?

I think it's almost kinda useless to negotiate to a "Final" price if you're not buying now. By the middle-end of June they will be even willing to go lower because they need to clear inventory. Find out how much KB can do -- And ask him to include the price of the body kit and spoiler -- I say if he throws the kit and spoiler into the price of the car for $31500 or lower that is a good deal!

By the way, Steven of Sunnyvale in his email says that they're willing to beat any Certified Price Quote by $100, whatever that means.

True, but i'll just play the voicemail for him again..hehe i got it saved and if he says no, then i'll just bounce.
-LORE: the price he quoted me was the price that i gave to you, sorry for the confusion, it could be a little more depending tax and stuff.

So $30,400 is what Dave of Stevens Creek gave you? Heck if you can get that on a "certified price quote" format -- again, whatever that is -- you can get KB/Steven to at least go down to $30,300 with their $100 price guarantee.

Dealer holdback is about $1000 for this car w/ Navi. That means their cost is approximately $30,000 even, not counting any further discounts from volume purchasing. Based on this information, if you can get any lower than $30,400 I'm betting it's not by much, and they'll probably hit you up on the accessories, which is why I say offer them $31,500 or somewhere near that for spoiler and body kit.

That'll give them $1,500 to split between the accessories and profit from the sale. I don't know how much inventory Sunnyvale has, but Stevens Creek told me they have over 70 TLs in stock still. I bet the pressure will be far higher come June!

Oh, I should say that the cost from Hond**********.com of the spoiler is about $466 and the underbody kit is $830 which is $1300.

If you give them $1,500 to split, after cost of accessories, they still have $200 to use as profit, which is about the amount of profit they'd make anyway from a sale at $3,300 or less.

There was an argument somewhere that said if you bought them standard, those accessories would come from the factory w/o additional install costs.

And since you wouldn't pay for the labor costs there, why should you pay for them at the dealers? I can't remember where I read this, but it makes sense. They're charging $120 an hour for labor which I think is ridiculous, especially for installing something like the moonroof visor which would take 5-10 minutes at most.

After doing more insurance rate quotes, I may not be able to buy the car with such high insurance rates

$3400-$3600 a year for insurance is outrageous!

Geico and Progressive both quote around that much. I would normally be under my parents, but if I buy the car in my name I can't be under their plan.

I thought about having them buy the car in their name (or at least co-sign) and I could just make the car payments/insurance payments for them but my mom's not too keen on me buying a car right now, fresh out of college. (I will be starting my job in July, though)

I will be working for one of the Big 4 accounting firms in SF. I'm doing Systems Audit (sort of like financial audit but with their IT systems)

If I wait until I actually start work, I can wait for the 2004 TL to come out and hopefully see improvements in their rotor/brake pad problem and transmission problem.

But... sigh, the TL-S looks so sexy right now!

Almost 22 -- graduating from UC Berkeley with a BS in Business Administration in 5 days! It's finals week and while I have a final tomorrow I'm really indifferent about it...

I've considered and somewhat looked at other cars (read my previous post to make sure you got the entire post) because of the TL problems. I considered the 330i but thought it was too small. I test drove the Accord but felt too cramped in it (and our family already has an Accord).

I'm also thinking about the G35 and the Audi A4, but haven't test driven either of those yet.

I would have checked this forum all through last night but the forums were having problems.

How about you? Age? Job?

I almost interviewed with SBC for their management track program (leadership thingy or something) but by that time had already received an internship offer with PwC (This was last summer). Then I received a job offer after the internship and didn't bother recruiting for another job and just accepted it because I enjoyed the work.

But, because my work requires a lot of driving to and from clients I would love to be able to ride in a car that's fun and has a lot of power.

The G35 looks like a nice car but yah, it's about $3k more than what the TL costs. Maybe I should just wait for the new TL to come out? hmmm... what are you driving right now? I drive a 94 Camry LE, which functions just fine, but it's a Camry with low HP!

Taiwanese here. I speak Mandarin and Taiwanese.

Yah, the 94 Camry I drive is passed down from my parents as well. It pretty much became my car as soon as I turned 16.

I've been wanting to get a car for a while. For a lonnnnnnnnnnnng time I wanted the 330i but after driving it and comparing it to the TL I realized that the TL was a much nicer car for the money.

And you're right, I don't think the new TL looks that nice either. Right now, insurance rates will determine which path I take. I'll need to talk to my parents some more.

I think that coming from an asian background, your parents will understand that the extra money for the insurance is not reasonable, and they will end up adding you onto theres..=) And the price quotes that we got for the car is pretty reasonable, about half a year ago, i almost bought the TL type-S for 30k something. Im glad taht i didnt!! So where you born in Taiwan? if so, when ddi you come here.? (im not gettin too personal am i..hehe)

Check your private message...

But yah, if they are really okay with me buying the car then I think they'd add me to their insurance plan. But we'll see.
