Do what you can yourself. Buy the parts and have a reputable independent shop so the other stuff. and the checks, i never did them. I just did the replace stuff.
if thats what they charge for the 90k, i wonder how much their gonna charge for the 105k!

105k might be more expensive due to the fact that is when the timing belt, water pump, and tune-up is recommended. my 90k service cost me $550.40 last month. would have been less, but they did a complete transmission flush, not just a drain and fill. service was done by Acura of Tempe.

buy the parts and do it yourself at 100k. Do the timing belt too. I did it myself and there is NO WAY that they do everything they are supposed to even for 1300 bucks. Not enough time especially if they torque things to spec and change anything they find is bad along the way. Or like he said, Buy the parts, take to reputable shop. Good time to check all your mounts too.

Is this really necessary. I have taken my car to the dealer for every service. Now they want me to pay this much. Do I really need to do this? If so how much do you think it would be if I took it somewhere else?

Im guessing what the dealer meant was the 105 timing belt replacement service we all lament
If they can get you in early all the better for their income
A lot of that service is DIY for most people and can save cash that way

yeah that is what they told me also. I really just think it is a lot of money and I am not sure if I really need it. You never know with the dealers. I am going to check aroud for other prices.
DIY means Do It Yourself -as in change your own spark plugs or oil change--save money doing things at home rather than pay the dealer $125 an hour for labor
Many dealers will suggest the 105 timing belt service early at 80-90 if you are at or above 7 years- that means 99-02 for gen2 is ready based on time.. if not at mileage

I'm sure you'll be fine waiting until 105k if not a little longer considering your car is only 4 years old. Time takes it toll more than mileage on belts and timing belts are no exception.
I bought my timing belt, water pump, tensioners, etc. Then had NVA-AV6 replace them for me at a $250 flat rate.
..so, you can see why paying $1300 for a dealer just to "check" stuff is completely rediculous.

I just had the 90 thousand service done today on my MDX and also had them do an oil change & tire rotation & balance while they had it in there - this was @ my local Honda dealership. The total came to $860 and change. Unfortunately I still have to make a visit to an Acura Dealer and have some new battery cables installed & go ahead and get a Honda battery to go with as the after market battery I had to get not that long ago damaged my cables to where it's difficult to tighten them properly. We had no idea that Acura cables aren't really compatible with after market batteries - does everyone know that? The posts actually stretched the connectors & make it hard to tighten them good. Anyway, we know now!
The 2007 MDX I have @ this time is the 7th Acura I've owned, and can only suggest that you follow Acura's suggestions for maintenance & service to have optimal performance from your automobile. In all honesty the only thing I'd take for mine is a brand new one!
You rezzed a thread to talk about your MDX in the TL forum in order to suggest paying $860 for your Acura service at a Honda dealership.
All of your 2 posts are randomly silly

Yeah, as normal.....Karanx7 is spot on !
Hey 1etcetera, have ya tried checking out the more specific "MDX" forums ?
Acura loves people with deep pockets to continue maintaining their products at the dealership. However, here on the 2nd Gen TL's sub-forum, we attempt to educate and help provide tips to our fellow owners who attempt keeping their car's PM costs low, due to the age and actual value of our beloved Acuras.
Most 10+ year old and 200k vehicles are not worth spending substantial amounts of money on basic general "DIY" simple repairs. We save our money for trannys and the big ticket stuff that dealerships charge thousands of dollars for. They in turn want to lure ya into a new or newer car for more profits. So, we try to steer clear of the dealerships if at all possible.

I'm just going to say this. I am definitely NOT a mechanic and almost all of my car knowledge has come from you tube and this forum. My 2001 TL is about to flip 250K next week. My first tranny lasted 222k, my engine is in great shape, and any repairs I need I just ask here or you tube or google. In my opinion these cars are very easy to work on and the satisfaction of fixing things yourself and saving money for upgrades is a big win. If a dealer quoted me $1,300 dollars to "check" stuff, I would just turn around and walk right out. That''s ridiculous.
