6MT Swap in 03 TL-S

Just trying to get some feed back, has anyone done a 6 speed manual swap(from CL-S) into a 02-03 TL-S?

I ended up buying the electrical trouble shooting manual for both my TL and the CL that i would be pulling parts from. I mapped the pin outs of the engine ECU's and was able to map everything over more or less no problem. The real issues start with the ABS/TCS/VSA system.

I guess my real question is has anyone actually done this swap before and with what results? I would like to avoid swapping the ABS modulator and ABS ecu but it might come down to that. Any Help?

Yes, many of us have.

I bought a wrecked CL-S6, so I just swapped everything over. You should definitely at least use the dash and engine harnesses from the CL-S6.

Yeah, only thing was you had a TL-P not a TL-S, the VSA system on the TL-S auto kind of throws a wrench in the swap unless I swap everything (ABS control unit, modulator etc. Might end up doing that anyways, but figured i would ask. short of the ABS issue I have found you can do the swap with out swapping harness, just changing connectors and pin outs.

I know he's banned and all, but didn't Friesm2000 get his VSA and everything working with his 6spd?

I would be skeptical of anyone getting the full VSA system working with a manual swap. There are quite a few inputs to the VSA computer that are not there on a manual car. There also appears to be some sort of serial communication link between the PCM and the VSA unit. I don't know what it is there for but i doubt it work really work with out that. i think it would be possible to do the swap, but you would really have to swap the VSA system over to the standard ABS/TCS.

I looked at that users threads but I couldn't find anything like that, any links?

Thanks

Why bother with the TCS or VSA system? Just ditch it since they're unnecessary. Plus, 6 speed cars don't have them, so no reason to try to retain it.

You cant get your VSA to work with the manual. ABS can be gotten to work though.

Just texted Matt, he does indeed have VSA. No lights on the dash are illuminated.

Here's his car at the track.

I still gotta get my ABS working. I think the only thing I need to swap is the ABS modulator box thing where all the lines go into.

yeah i am not so worried about getting vsa to work, although i am really interested in what goes into the swap. I have followed your swap and unfortunately I am not sure how much applies since you have a 00 TL-P. It looks like everyone has more or less just gotten a wrecked CL-S 6MT and swaped all of the harnesses and boxes over. After tracing a lot of the wires via the oem electrical manual, the major differences look to be in the VSA/TCS system. It would be kind of nice not to shell out all that extra money if I don't have to, and I like a challenge.
