6 speed tl

anybody know if AMMCO will do the 6 speed transmission swap? idk if this question has already been asked but i dont have the tools or the experience to take on this sort of challenge i have a friend who says hes helped in a 92' civic tranny swap but i assume this one is a bit more complicated. if nobody knows ill call them tomorrow but the advice is always appreciated thank you

Theres no way AMMCO is going to do a swap Maybe a shop that does custom work IMO.
Its a big project your gonna need much more than a 6 speed trans and clutch pedal, check your budget before spending.
Not trying to discourage you but this is something I would tackle on my own with the help of some buddies
Some day I'll do mines.

Heres a thread about it : https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/6-speed-conversion-591872/

i seen a couple threads about it and i know its not just the tranny but i miss controlling the car not the car doing its own thing, ive already had my transmission replaced twice and ive only had it for 2 1/2 years... i know if me and some friends did it, it would be much cheaper but i just dont think the experience is with us, ill keep doing research and see if i cant get some more help, Thank you for leading me in the right direction

I understand, man I miss my 95 civic for that.
Theres a proven alternative for the transmission issue, using the Accord V6 2006-07 or the Odyssey 05-06.

i read about that as well on another post, but i would always take manual over auto.. i had a 93' integra but sadly wrecked into a big a** chevy, it literally drove over my hood. the tl has more get up but just that auto tranny ruins it for me,and AMMCO probably wouldnt do that swap either, right??

Yea alot of shops don't want anything to do with swaps.
You don't have have to mention its a swap because theres nothing custom everything fits, Just the power steering line that has to be looped, unless its a Type S.

If ya really want the stick and can't DIY, it'll cost ya extra in labor with installation. Check for the availability of a CL 6 speed along with all the necessary parts, then find a local import speed shop or independent tranny shop willing to take the project on. It won't be cheap, but the stick will outlast the car and provide ya with the real control that ya desire. Ya never know until ya try !!!

I was the first to ever do one on a 2nd gen. Mechanically its not hard at all. Everything bolts right up. Electrically its a little more complicated as you cant just go and buy a conversion harness but you can repin and swap whats needed fairly easily.

I guess at least i can look forward to taxes coming ill check and see how much a shop would do it for and then see how much it would cost me to do it myself, if i end up doing it on my own ill probably be asking you guys a question every 10 minutes, the only problem with doing it myself is that i dont have the tools, its probably going to take longer and my TL is the only car i have.. we will see how things work out, i think i saw on fsttyms1 post that if i was going to do this i cant use TL headers i need CL headers right?? are those going to fit on my motor? they are the same motor right? mine is the base model i think its referred as the TLP?

The stock OEM headers will fit both cars. Only aftermarket headers for the TL won't fit the CL unless they have a bend in the rear collector.
