30k service
i am about to bring my car to the dealer for service. If it's way too much then I will just ask them to do specific things. What kind of things should be asked instead of the 30k service? Thanks

1)Oil change,
2)Rotate tires (better to do it somewhere else or yourself),
3)AC filter replacement (cheaper to do this yourself, there is a tread on how to repalce it yourself....very easy),
4)replace intake air filter (you can do this yourself too, just open up the air box),
5)fill fluid (they do this anyways),
6)have them replace your trans fluids.
The rest of the stuff is just inspection.....just a bunch of nothing to charge you 200-500 dollars.

Just had it done. I just had them do the oild change and drain and refill tranny fluid so it was on record that it was done. Tires were rotated at my last oil change and I have a K&N filter, so no need to replace the air filter.
Bought the AC micron filters myself online for $27 shipped, dealer wanted $30 each! (you need two)
It was extremely easy.
Dealer quoted me $500 for the 30K mile service. y total cost ended up around $100.

what happens if one of the things they were supposed to inspect fails later on? Can they deny you warranty work on the failed part in question which would normally be covered under warranty? (does that make sense?)

I just don't see how a visual inspection will give you advanced notice of something that's about to fail. Again, if there's visual indications that it's about to fail, then it failed.
Bottom line a visual inspection is not preventative (unless your going on a road trip).
Maybe that's the only benefit, a visual inspection may give you an indication that somethings about to fail and therefore prevents you from being stranded.
If they're inspecting things like tie-rods and ball-joints I could understand that a little bit more since if one of these fails it could be dangerous, but the odds of that are rare on these cars, especially at 30K miles. In addition bad ball joints and tie rods usually give other indications, like uneven tire wear, and clunking sounds.

when during inspection and something is discovered to be failed, then they will fix it under warranty. What if you skip the inspection and something fails and they tell you that you won't be warranted because you skipped the inspection. Would that ever happen?

Doubt it. They're visual inspections. For example if their visual inspection finds a leak, well guess what? It already failed.
