2004 Tl-S arrival???

I know this has been asked before, What is the scoop on the 2004 Tl-S arrival. Will it be this fall or possibly before? What will be new besides more horsepower & Torque? Will it have the voice activated nav. system like my daughter's v-6 Honda accord. That is the most awesome thing. It recoginzes 180 voice commands and will change temp, radio station, or receive navigation queries.

So far the latest skuttlebutt is that it will be in either September or October.

Try this in her Accord for laughs. Record a cassette tape or a cd that has her voice on it an play it in the car. Some of the voice commands in her voice would be recorded on the cd/tape. Play the recording and see if the system responds.

Yes, it's a useless thing to do but just interesting to find out..

That's sweet. I wonder if they will have the automatic heigh-adjustable feature, too. That would be awesome.

I was told that the '04 models will hit the showrooms in no later than September. If I don't sell my '01 Eclipse GT and buy the Saab by then, I'll definitely check out the '04. I love my '03 and I want to get another Acura in my stable.

Swing headlight system is already on German cars. The lenses move left and right when you're turning, so you're not blinded on the side as you're turning.

You know how Caddy's and some Oldsmobile's have lights on the side of the front bumper, and illuminate when you turn on the turn signal? Same concept, except they took it up another notch.

Now, the automatic height-adjustable headlights are when you're going uphill or downhill. As you are going over a hill, isn't it annoying to see the headlights illuminating the sky, and you can't see what's ahead of you until your car levels out? Well, the automatic height-adjustables headlights move up and down to compensate for it.

ummm swing headlight system isn't up & down, its left & right, for when the steering wheel is turned, it points in the direction of the way you are turning. you can find out more direct info at lexus.com as they have a flash video of the rx330 and its "swinging headlights" as we are putting it in this thread..

Umm, yeah. That's exactly what I said. First, I talked about the swing, then I mentioned the auto up/down, because that'd be a nice thing to have.

:p Read more carefully next time.

i was wondering if i missed something. i almost even added that i might... i'm so tired right now =)

I personally would love to buy an 04 TL Premium (non typeS)... I just hope they only give the typeS performance extras and not safety extras such as VSA.

I think VSA should be standard on the Premium version... I'm already happy with the 240hp of the new accord, and anything more than that i'll be overly delighted with in the base 04 TL' . I'll be coming from a 99' EX V6 Coupe so going from ~7.7sec 0-60 to ~6.9 or faster will be already plenty.

I am budgeting myself to get an 04' TL and am being conservative and assuming they will (eek!) raise the msrp 2grand, so that a base 04' TL w/o Navi is 31,480 including dest. I hope they don't do more than that, and even then, 2k is a lot as I don't see how they can improve much than just giving all the standard acura features to the new accord.

I doubt they will come out with TYpe-S in the first year of a redesign. I would expect a Type-S for 2005 or 2006.

They's be completely foolish if they don't come out with a Type S the firsy year. They did it with the RSX. It came with a Type S when it launched. At least the TL-S has a 2-3 year history now!

That's not foolish. It makes great business sense.

When the new TL hits the showroom this fall, people will check it out, and if they like it, they will buy it. Acura will sell a lot of TL's.

After a year or two, the initial "boom" will have disappeared, since it will no longer be the new car on the block. So they come out with the Type-S model. Another boom, and people will buy it. And 2 or 3 years after that, a total redesign.

RSX was a completely new line, and they needed the Type-S market support. They don't have to do that with the TL.

My '92 Continental had turn lights. They were actually pretty useful. Wonder why they never caught on?

At the Dallas car show, they acura rep said the 04's would be in show-rooms in October. When asked about the the type S, he said a redesigned TL-S would not be out until 05. He was VERY confident in that answer. We did get to see, sit in and drool in the TSX. Its very similar, just a bit smaller. Has a snub-tailed rear-end....many people didn't like it. I thought it looked ok.

Would be nice if Acura added auto-locking doors for security like most domestic cars. Maybe car-jacking is rare in Japan, but it sure happens around here.

You beat me to the punch!
To think it only took Fifty+ years to catch up to Preston's design!

There is no doubt that the TL will come out with the Type S model as its already on the market waiting to be redesigned. 280 hp Type S model 18 inch wheels and TL-P 260 hp with 17 inch wheels. We will have a beautiful car for the 2004 season and I would probably trade my Type S for the 2004.
